Well just got back from Trinity College, because my college is too cheapskate to have Sky. We missed the red carpet arrivals in the quest for a TV but here are some thoughts having viewed this thread
Firstly Matt Dillon? Hunk of the month. Joaquin Phoenix... err hunk of another month? Hunkalicious.
Secondly, from the moment I first saw her on celluloid years ago I have wanted to say the following: Can someone PLEASE lock Reese Witherspoon back in the Southern States where she belongs NEVER to cause mass annoyance to humanity again.
The good (Some STUNNING tasteful colours this year
Amy Adams: A VERY impressive dress. One of the best. You believe this is couture not some prom dress factory producing identikit dressed.
J.Lo: Don't care for the dress or the woman, but the colour was like heaven, especially on her beautiful caramel skin. Perfect
Selma Blair: I miss her short hair but this girl just knows how to dress.
Keira: Lovely colour. Bad everything else. Beautiful girl. I loved the God-dust on her cheekbones bit. Actually I haven't watched the Oscars since my schooldays and I am surprised they have skits now.
Michelle Williams: The dowdiest girl in Hollywood but that yellow was extraordinary with the red lipstick. Wish she had left the necklace at home (and Keira too)
Jade Pinkett: Lovely colour for her but not unusual.
Karolina 'Big Bird' Kurkova: Great dress, great body but she is a model and why was she there? Exactly the same with Diane Kruger. Oh wait she ccalls herself an actress these days.
Jessica Alba: Because she was so skinny! I dont remember her being this skinny. The dress was nice -had a vintage feel and showed off her figure.
Maggie Gyllenhaal: Love the sub-mediaeval get up. Very unusual but then Maggie is just great. The back was lovely just like my favourite Oscar fashion moment in 2000 with Cate Blanchette's black dress with gold accents.
Padma Lakshmi: Wow. Wow. She looked like Jessica rabbit. That white material was like water over her curves. She just looked beautiful. It is amazing what an ordinary dress cut properly can do for you.
Just Bad:
Naomi Watts: The Colour. The pregnant ruffle. Ewww. Not good compared to Michelle Williams. Nicole also wore a bad colour for her.
Salma: Hated everything she wore. It could be her figure I am not sure. Also I dont remember her English being so bad.
Hilary Swank: Why does it have to be designer? She could have got it at Sears.
Jennifer Aniston: I have always known she was a sears girl. Still, her greeting with George Clooney was so cute.
Acessories:
I need Presley Chweneyagae's necklace soooo much!
Matt Dillon and Joaquin Phoenix: The best acessories ever. The Academy has something against pretty people.
Ludacis and Queen Latifah: Can they please be my friends. They seemed like the nicest humblest people there.
Uma Thurman: The best makeup for her. Didn't love the dress but she didn't look so frog eyed and weird as usual (I usually like that though!)
Charlize Theron: Great shoes! Great earrings! Dont mind her dress as it is quite couture-y. Actually I LOVE it. I can't stand Charlize but she has far exceeded my expectations this year and I think I have changed my mind.
Winners I loved:
Rachel Weisz: Nice watching a Brit and a Cantabridgian win. She is one of my top all time beauties. The greatest English-Jewish face of all time. But the dress was blah!
George Clooney: Lets hear it for the nice guy conscious driven liberals!! Wahoo. (And I haven't seen either of the films but for his niceness he deserves it
)
Lastly: I didn't know Moira Shearer died
That really upset me as The Red Shoes is my favourite film.
