The Offical Academy Awards 2006 Thread

I agree ewanek we all know the movie deserved moore oscars specially for the best picture. But even without oscars this movie is going in history its alredy a classic.By not awarding him academy voters sgowed how homofobic they really are but that is expected since the youngest member has 54 years!I didnt like Zhangs dress,Michelle loked great specially her makeup she should wear it moore often!

^BBM didn't win so the Oscar jury is homophobic?

Madonna at VF (JJB)

My 'list'!

Good-
Michelle Williams- She has just been getting better and better, I never would have thought it from the Dawson days. She took a big risk and pulled it off.
Maggie Gyllenhaal, Diane Kruger, Jessica Alba, Keira Knightley, Jennifer Aniston and Salma Hayek.

Average-
Hilary Swank, Reese Witherspoon, Felicity Huffman.

Just bad-
Charlize Theron- Possibly the worst dress I've seen in a long time. I have no idea why she thought this dress would look good.
Jennifer Lopez- Horrible colour and I didn't like the shape at the bottom it made her look wider.

Favorites:
1, Michelle Williams - that color is to die for...goodness, she looked AMAZING
2, Keira Knightley - her eye makeup was a little off, but I loved her dress!! She looked so glam and old Hollywood!
3, Nicole Kidman - she can do no wrong, honestly
4, Karolina Kurkova - she's a goddess... she could wear a paper bag and still look drop dead gorgeous...*raging jealousy* I love that after party pic of her and Lindsay Lohan. So adorable. Although...why was she at the Oscars ceremony?
5, Uma Thurman - statuesque and gorgeous
6, Rachel Weisz - i want to look like her when I'm pregnant...she looked so beautiful!!

WTF
1, Naomi Watts - what on earth was she wearing! so unflattering...don't get a dress that matches your skin tone and looks like there's a dead animal on your chest
2, Helena Bonham Carter -ack!

Its true i noticed that.Jamie Fox who was sitting next two her was laughfing and she looked at him like he was crazy! But that is hardly annoying come on impossibleprincess maybe she dosent have a sense of humor but she deffinetly has a sense of style!

The camera kept cutting to Jamie Foxx after Jon Stewart made his jokes because he laughed at every single one like he was going crazy. Hahaha, this makes me like Jamie Foxx so much more.

Did anyone see Jake G. run up the stairs to shake Jon Stewart's hand after the show? That was adorable.

My favs: Uma looked like a goddess  Salma, Meryl, Michelle Williams, and Felicity all looked great. I also like Diane Kruger's (that is a 1st)

I hated: Charilze and Namoi Watts always wears neutral colors that wash her out.

Nicole Kidman's style is so boring. and Jen Anniston needs a stylist.

Thanks for all the pics everyone!

Mick Jagger, L'Wren Scott and Teri Hatcher behind (JJB)
OK, I'm done.

My Oscar's 2006 Fashion Review ~

Rachel Wiesz ~ I liked the hair/makeup & though the gown is rather boring it is much better than her Golden Globes ensemble.

Lisa Rinna ~ I loved the color of her dress. Lisa to me worked well with what she has. Sure her tan is extreme and her lips are enormous but props to her for classing it up the best she could.

Joan Rivers ~ She looks nice minus the duster around her chest.

Melissa Rivers ~ This is the best I have seen her look in a long time

Amy Adams ~ I'm on the fence about the dress, don't get me wrong its a nice dress but I'm not so sure if something more simple woulnd't have proven better on her. In any event I loved the earrings she wore.

Matt Dillon ~ He's just so very handsome.

Jennifer Jason Leigh ~ Ehh....Well atleast the accessories spruced up the basic black number.

Samantha Harris ~ She looked okay.

George Clooney ~ He looked nice.

Kiera Knightley ~ That necklace is beautiful as is the dress but overall the look is just too much. Its such a huge transition from her Golden Globes ensemble where I thought she looked spectacular but more importantly young and refreshing.

Dolly Parton ~ Dolly is Dolly and I  her.

Karolina Kurokova ~ Lovely!

Michelle Williams ~ The hair and makeup is flawless and I'm not all that crazy about a red lip but with her skin its just wow. As for the dress I'm on the fence. The color is wonderful against her skin but ehh... perhaps if the tulle wasn't covering the straps I would have liked it more and a bare neck would have looked better than her medieval necklace.

Heath Ledger ~ I always prefered him as a blonde and clean shaven.

Jada Pinkett Smith ~ Beautiful!

Will Smith ~ Handsome as usual. Does the man ever age? :P

Eric Bana & Rebecca Gleeson ~ They looked really good...especially him.

Presley Chweneyagae ~ Props to her for taking a chance on something different but aside from the necklace...thumbs down.

Naomi Watts ~ Again I am all for those who are willing to take a risk and step outside of the safe box but aside from her being a beautiful lady and having greatly styled hair this look was a dud.

Shaun Robinson ~ She took a bit of a risk and managed to look wonderful.

Nancy O'Dell ~ Interesting choice...I love the back of her dress.

Ludacris ~ He looked good.

Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter ~ The color of Helena's dress was very complimentary to her skin tone the overall look of both....um, alrighty then.:innocent:

Jessica Alba ~ She stepped away from her usual safety zone but I don't care for the results sans her makeup and those earrings.

Bahar Soomekh ~ I'm not that crazy about the dress but it is good to see someone else splash some color around.

Salma Hayek ~ From the waist up = gorgeous. But the bottom was ehh 80's prom dress gone to hell.

Terrance Howard ~ He looked great as usual. I was also glad he got rid of the perm.

Sandra Bullock ~ She looked really nice.

Meryl Streep ~ I thought she looked really good.

Ziyi Zhang ~ She looked radiant. Its was such a huge departure from her Golden Globes look and usually I am not all that big on black and white but the look on her was great. :flower:

Felicity Huffman ~ I loved the hair and while I would have liked the dress in say red, she still worked it out.

Hilary Swank ~ Yet another black ensemble that equals "great" resulte for Hil. Also Yay for her hair actually being styled.

Uma Thurman ~ The eye makeup was a bit severe but everything else was pretty much on point.

Jennifer Garner ~ Terrific!

Jennifer Lopez ~ The hair looks nice and I love the color of the dress but her HOLY TAN! clashed the overall look.

Reese Witherspoon ~ She is so cute but her dress is just too decorative for my liking. Its reminding me of Michelle Pfeiffer Christmas ensemble from
Grease 2...which is not a compliment..

Nicole Kidman ~ The dress is great, yet her hair..ehh for me personally I would have liked to seen it up to balance out the simpleness of the dress. Or better yet she would have looked smashing if she would have retracted back to her natural hair hue....or had gotten a tan.

Queen Latifah ~ I heart Queen but I didn't care for the dress and the hair was rather bleak.

Maggie Gyllenhaal ~ This is the best I have seen her look in a long time. I especially loved the back of her dress.

Jennifer Aniston ~ Blah. One would think for someone who was so known for her hair she would invest in someone actually styling it.

Morticia ~ Well she looks...oh wait, damn thats Selma Blair.

Charlize Theron ~ Oh Charlize....Just like the Golden Globes, I'll say the face is beautiful and well that about sums it up. As I have stated I am all for those who take risks but this choice really just had me scratching my head.

Jake Gyllenhaal ~ I wish I knew how to quit you...^_^

Jane Seymour ~ She looked good.

Diana Kruger~ To my surprise I actually thought that she looked nice, perhaps the best I have ever seen her look.

Taraji Henson ~ I thought she looked nice, the color was a fantastic choice for her.

Thanks to everyone who posted the various pics. :flower:

Was that taffeta though? Don't answer, I'd rather not know  :ninja:

Is Kiera Knightley's jewelry Bvlgari or Asprey? I thoght she is the spokesperson for Asprey.

Nicole Kidman was very annoying at one point. Jon Stewart made a joke about Russell Crowe something along he lines of, "well I don't think his makeup artist would have had much to work on to show that Russell Crowe had ben in a fight" (because he plays a boxer in cinderella man) and she just made a really rude, "i'm not impressed with that" face at the camera. what, so just so he's your friend we're not allowed to have some fun, Nicole? Please.

Oh come on! Not everyone can remain smiling throughout the whole ceremony. Gosh, so what if she didn't think the remark was funny? She has her own opinions.

i still think that Kate Bosworth looks reallllly good in the dress, but i'm not that impressed with what sienna choose.
sigh, kate looks so good. i actually think it's the best dress last night. (personally)
and adrian freaking broady looks so freaking hottttttt. the boots do it for me. ugh...LOVE HIM!
and jessica alba looks lovely. she never over does it or under does it.

My faves
MICHELLE WILLIAMS!!! gorgeous, and elegant!
Uma Thurman- she looked like a goddess, perfect!!!!

HATED
KEIRA Knightley- EEK! wrong color, too dark for her, hair looked cheap, necklace was unnecessary, HER HIPS LOOKED HUGE, not a good silihuette for her pear shaped body. SHE LOOKED TOO OLD and MATRONEY.

Thank goodness for Naomi, Charlize, and Helena Bonham Carter for giving us something different because it was a snoozefest on the red carpet.

Is Madonna wearing Versace? Brittany and Madonna look WAY too typical Versace, they look like Elizabeth Hurley circa 1996-99, and aren't we over that yet?

I think Jennifer Lopez was one of the most glamoures stars of the night.I dont like the girl never watched her movies or listend to her music. But she knows how two glam things up her makeup is always perfect and her dresses are usually great.Loved the green dress not so much the tan like someone mentioned, hair was perfect and jewlery was appropriet!I almost always love her oscar dresses specially green Valentino previosly worn by Jackie O,Loved the seethrow Chanel and pink Versace! She is one of the rare stars that have that glamour from the gold age plus dont foget she has a diffrent husband almost evrey time she attends academy awards!!!
