am I the only one here who wasn't moved at all by reese when she won

I know that I will piss a lot of people off so I'm sorry:blush: but when she was giving her speech it felt as though she was acting a scene in a bad movie.. it felt like she was trying too hard to cry and I don't know why but she felt a bit fake to me..

her speech felt a bit too cliche for me.. I was just annoyed by her.. her all american good girl personality doesn't feel that pure to me

I felt it was contrived and fake as well :innocent:

My favs

Naomi Watts: she gorgeous, has a great siluette and her make-up is done to perfection. Givenchy works perfect on Naomi.

Michelle Williams: the dress is gorgeous, just take a look at it for a minute! The hair is cute and that do' is becoming Michelle's property! She wears it all the time and looks great of her.Red lipstick! Finally someone dares to wear it.

Nicole Kidman: Grace, Class and Elegance. That's all I need to say

Diane Kruger: She always gets it right and she's beautiful.

is it common for people to change for the after parties? i've never noticed it before but it seems like many (naomi, keira, jessica) did this year.

why did lindsay lohan wear 2 different dresses...was that really necessary?

best dressed:
karolina kurkova...outshined the actresses
jada pinkett smith...beatiful color and silhouette
michelle williams...loved the dress, could have toned down the lips a touch

worst dressed:
kiera knightley...just because you're at the oscars does not mean you have to go full on ball gown
jennifer aniston...can you please try something new?
nicole kidman...pale, pasty...ugh...could have picked a much better balenciaga...

I loved it and was thrilled for its upset. I do think I have an ethnic bias, though. Crash's message resonated with me so much because of my personal experiences.

But back OT...after much debate I've decided that I love Naomi's dress. It seems like it would fall apart, but that's part of its appeal, IMO :)

An ethnic bias?! (If you're Asian,) I'm Asian too, so I don't think the ethnicity of the watcher has anything to do with how good "Crash" is... if anything, it was offensive to me because of my ethnicity.

I don't quite understand why Karolina Kurkova was on the red carpet. Why was she there?

She knows someone in the industry...She is becoming a lot like a Gisele or even Naomi in the way that people recognize her. Lauren Hutton, Eugenia Silva, and Donatella Versace were there as well. The Oscars is like any other awards show, like say MTV's VMA's for example, that has people of all walks of life (or industries) attending.

Glad someone mentioned "Crash"...It ruined my night! How come it won best picture of the year? BBM deserved that award so much more, the performances are great(Heath, Jake, Michelle), the script is just like the book:incredibly powerful, the music gets stuck into your head and there's no way of getting it out ans the wonderful cinematography.
Again, that bunch of puritans... I knew Hollywood wouldn't have the guts to give its most important award to a movie about two men falling in love for ever.
Damn, hate the Academy, what type of morons are they? Just like when Naomi Watts was robbed aswell as Mystic River to The Lord of the Rings. In what kind of world TLOR is better that Mystic River?

BBM is the absolute WINNER, and I have officially lost all respect toward Hollywood Academy. Give BBM its award!

i thought the night was boring, nobody looked wow gorgeous except for some guys. strange thing, i kinda liked Charlize's dress, at least it wasn't boring, like Keira,Jennifer Naomi, Nicole, and the rest of them who always wear the same exact boring thing.
Salma, could ve done without the super tight bust dress knowing that she has so much of it. :yuk:

Yes, I am Chinese :) But I felt no offense whatsoever from the portrayals in the film -- it only made me contemplate so much more about societal ideals and realities in terms of racism issues for both sides of the picture. Yes, it was blatant and overt, but at the same time I really considered such a method necessary. It really showed that humanity is in constant progress towards complete change or reformation, but it'll never ever reach that point of success. I think Jon Stewart said it best after one the "social issues" montage last night: "And none of those issues were ever a problem again."

But the bottomline is, who cares about the statue/title? As much as I'm glad Crash won, I'm also glad that BBM has been one of the most influential films (And most spoofed  ) of recent years. It's already a winner in many more ways than Crash is (I think that's partly why I'm glad Crash now has more recognition of its own).

Odette - I think that's why they gave Clint and Million Dollar Baby all the recognition last year as sort of a Mystic River consolation  It's too bad that Martin Scorsese had to be the victim, though...

And I think I'm OT... So here are more Vanity Fair Oscar Party HQs!!

Well that reminds me how pissed off I was when MDB won last year, I wanted the Aviator to win so much!

Jake is my WINNER!!!

Well, I am so happy Crash won but I do feel bad that Brokeback didnt win b/c it was a great movie too.

Anyway, I have to say I loved Jessica Alba, Charlize, JLo, and Michelle. They all looked classic. I think it was a great red carpet this year.

Disagree. She may have done a good job, especially if compared with the kind of movie she used to do before this one, mostly romantic comedies. But I really don't think she should win over Felicity Huffman. Then again I'm not from South US, so maybe I don't understand.

amen! i mean i was impressed with her voice bt thats it...:innocent:

That is a bizarre point of view, IMO.
Crash is basically pointing that America hasn't left the 50's as far as race relations are concerned. It is very violent and militant in its message. No happy ending, no hope, no concession.
Considering that Hollywood is a white emporium, noted for its racism, I see nothing 'puritan' in this choice.
You seem to imply that Crash won for PC reasons, like to not offend the public. Well, considering the huge public success of BBM, and the fact that Clooney won for Syriana (I have seen more PC), I don't think that was anyone concern.
Listen, you are a huge fan of BBM, good for you, but not everybody in the world is into that movie. I personally found it very syrupy at times and not original at all. Good but not great. Crash on the contrary, is one of the most powerful movie I have seen in years.
I respect your point of view, just wanted to show there are other perspectives.
Anyway, the Oscar don't really make sense, so that's a non-debat.

Best: Nicole Kidman - Absolutely luminous in white. The very definition of elegance.

Agreed :) Though she looked very pale (Almost the same color of the dress!)

Do a close-up on her back: whatever causes that grey mould is a biohazard...
It's not a grey mould, it's some tacky sparkles. You know, the one you can buy for 1£ a pop at Claire's...

I don't know but I'm sure glad she was there. She was the only stand-out of the night.
