The Official Harry Potter Thread

Some people are thinking that Pottermore is going to be the encyclopedia she was talking about some years ago. Some people have also said that it could be a roleplaying site, with MORE being Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Experience or something along those lines.

I thought I had an idea of what it could be, until I listened to a podcast from one of the Harry Potter websites.
A lot of the fansites got to preview it and now know what it is...and one of those guys kind of hinted that whatever it is, it won't be strictly online.

He kind of made it sound like the site is going to be the equivalent of say the website for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
It's there for information, but it's not the "main attraction."

Words cannot even explain how excited i am for deathly hallows to come out!!!!!!!! eeeeeeeep!! It's so sad that this is the last one, but then again i don't think i could bare to watch another haha.

can't wait to know what Pottermore is all about.
tbh i would love it to be something like an online Hogwarts:lol: as in you can take classes in History of magic or defense against the dark arts and stuff. but that's just my little hope since i've always wanted to go to Hogwarts and am still waiting for my letter to arrive:lol: so it would be so cool if this website were like an online course of Hogwarts.

I've come to the conclusion that Pottermore could be JK Rowling's own publishing company or something.
I just don't think it's an online Role Play type thing or anything that one of the fansites (that JK Rowling highly supports) already does or has done.

It's got to be something completely unique/new.

I LOVE THE NEW TRAILER!!! ADORE all the Ron/Hermione stuff in it, and I'm so glad the trailer editors have refrained from showing even a second of their kiss. That way, we all get to see that moment fresh when we see the film! I am like everyone else--excited to see the film but SAD the Harry Potter on film is coming to an end.

At least Pottermore--and I'm sure it'll be something cool-- is coming up!

^^I've also heard that idea but I hope it's not true because that would be a bit disappointing to a lot of fans.
I also hope it's not an encyclopedia because we already have lexicon to love (one is quite enough when it has absolute EVERYTHING) and it would just seem like a revival of JKR vs. Lexicon.
And we already have too many fansites. For me, it's just Mugglenet + branches of Mugglenet, and that's it.

^Yeah, Mugglenet and Snitchseeker are my number one sites.
This is why I don't think it's some type of fansite, because JK Rowling has always been very supportive of the fansites and provided links to them on her own personal site.

One awesome thing about the youtube page for Pottermore though is that everyday, there are more owls there. It's SO cool!!!

So excited for what the announcement is going to be! :woot: But I have to be honest, if it's about something other than the encyclopedia/something book related, I'll be disappointed.

And now, it's time to overanalyse everything like good HP fans do, lol.

I'm too lazy to do the math, but what time GMT will it be when the countdown finishes?

It might mean something that the time of the video is at 0:09/1:13. September 1, 2013? 1 January, 2013? Or maybe we're supposed to add/subtract? If it means anything, the Hogwarts Express always leaves the platform on September 1 (which somehow always happens to be a Sunday in the HP world), though 2013 seems a tad too far away. Maybe the owls gathering imply a Hogwarts letter?

  • In order to improve site performance, long threads that are draining our loading time will be closed and we are going to be periodically starting new threads. This should help pages load faster.
  • Please remember that not everyone is on a fast connection, or has a large screen, and keep your picture sizes to 800 pixels or less in the largest dimension. This will also help with page load speed.
  • Please refrain from posting the same images as contained in the archived threads (e.g. in the old closed thread).
  • Please remember to stay on topic... All off topic discussion will be removed.
  • Please do not power post e.g. make empty posts with no info/questions/images - Empty posts cause threads to grow rapidly and is a nuisance to those who subscribe to many threads. Please take any private conversations to PMs or Profile Comments.
  • This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]99671[/split]
Thank you.

someone calculated that Sept 1 2013 would be James Potter II's first day at Hogwarts!
the only thing i find weird about it is that this is the American way to write a date. in Britain you would write 1 Sept 2013, since JK and the Potter books are British/based in Britain, why write the date the American way?!

i have one question that doesn't have anything to do with Pottermore:
i only have the Bloomsbury books, but i've always seen editions on the internet that have a little drawn picture on the first page of every chapter. are those the American versions? if so, can someone tell me if those are the normal ones or special editions? also, hardcover or paperback? i'm thinking about buying them, they look so nice!
