The Official Harry Potter Thread

i got tickets for me and my friends for Saturday :woot: Now I cannot wait. Though one of my friends hasnt read past the 3rd book and has just watched the movies, I wonder how she can keep up with everything, well probably cant since they obiviously have to leave something out.
The movie has gotten pretty great reviews overall in my country. Only minus seems to have been the fact that the book's divided into two movies, but I am not complaining at all, honestly I prefer to have everthing essential and have it in two parts, rather than the whole book squeezed in one movie.

I teared at the end of Harry and Hermione dance.. They didn't speak but the song, the way they looked, the emotions conveyed, it was just so sad/sweet/heartwarming/all the gooey emotions..

Agreed. This scene is very touching. I'm not surprised if some watchers see Harry's crush on Hermione in it, but let's just recollect that the books are much more about friendships than love affairs. For me, this dance is a quintessence of intimates' - almost brother/sister - relationships.

I'm going tomorrow night!! I'm so excited!! :woot:

All the critics keep mentioning the same two scenes as stand outs: The H/Hr dance and also Hermione erasing her parents memories. I find that funny, because neither of those scenes were in the book.

A lot of critics also keep mentioning how impressive Emma Watson is in this movie. Apparently, she holds the film together. Girl Power! :)

^^she is really amazing in this movie, i was honestly impressed
the first scene is so sweet and sad, emma's pics are adorable

the dance is sweet for us who read the books and we understand it (granted, most people who watch these films read the books as well) but i read some reviews where people said that there's some sexual chemistry between h/hr and i always thought "what's wrong with them?" but the h/hr shipping was quite obvious in this movie, there were a few looks by harry which made me go "harry is not supposed to have a crush on her, stop looking like that!". i don't know how to describe it...book readers will get that he's just worried about Hr and knows she's sad about Ron, but i also understand when people misunderstand this and think there's a ~love-triangle~

some other things (no spoilers, just general thoughts)
- for the first time i loved the twins. i never really cared about them in the books or movies (other than being ron's brothers) but they were funny and sweet here
- LOVED when they were in the ministry, it was funny at the times but still suspenseful (i just didn't like harry's actor...why did he walk so strange?)
- the uniforms of the (forgot the name)....the police(?) in the ministry (it reminded me a little of nazi-uniforms - which in itself isn't good, but in this case it fit perfectly)
- generally how clear they made it how racist voldemort and his followers are. it was much more than just calling someone a "mudblood"

ok, now i'll wait for the rest of you to see it so we can really talk about it:clap: (maybe i'll go see it again today in our english theater, i want to see it again and preferably the original...the german dubbing is terrible

^that was so adorable. generally the ron and hermione scenes were super cute. i thought it was awkward in HBP but in this one their chemistry was real and sweet:wub:

Really? Wee! I've never read critics' reviews before I watch the film. Also, I don't like to read about the movies I love.

I'm currently sitting in my college's library for the next 4 hours until it's time to go to the theater. I wasn't supposed to even be here until around 8:30, but something got postponed, and now I'm stuck. D; I DUN WANNA WAIT THAT LONG!

^haha im being forced to go to the movie theater in an hour. It's 6:48pm my time. Meaning I have like 5 and a half hours until it starts. Might as well take the damn book with me lol

^Speaking of the books, I had planned to use the past two weeks to re-read the whole series, but I suddenly got a new job, and training for that has taken up all my free time, so I'm still in the middle of OOTP. Half of me is pissed, the other half is glad that I finally have a better source of income. XD

^This is the first time I haven't re-read the book before seeing the movie. Maybe it's a good thing. I've been so busy that I haven't had time.

The closest I came is reading the Mark Reads Harry Potter blog.

I'm going to see it in 4 HOURS!!! OMG!!!! :woot:

For the past three days, I've been watchin' all of the movies. The movie was GREAT! I really enjoyed watchin' it (but I hated waking up early:p). The story went very smoothly. Like everyone else, Hermione's scene in the beginning was pretty sad. The dance scene was nice, too. The torture scene wasn't bad...it just sounded disturbing. Can't wait for 'Part 2.':D

Did anyone else find when ron touched the side of hermiones mouth at the beginning during the diner scene and said something like "you're the best at spells" freaking cute? I died.

JUST GOT BACK! Amazing...just beautiful! Oscar for Best Cinematography? YES PLEASE! Dan, Rupert, and Emma were perfection. Sooooo beyond proud of them since I feel like I've grown up with them.

got back as well. loved it. had little issues with some small tiny insanely freakishly things but overall... i was impressed/proud/sad/happy/everything else

um, did anyone else FREAKOUT when: Harry opened the locket and all that crap came out and then Harry and Hermione kissing naked!? Wtf!? I was more shocked than amused.

I'm glad I got a good theater audience. We all laughed at the same parts. And you could TOTALLY tell when it was time to cry.

^HBP got an Oscar nomination for Cinematography last year and it was in the top 5 for Visual effects.

I think DH part one will definitely get a few technical nominations. It would be awesome if the Three Brothers tale could get nominated somehow...that was one of the most beautiful things I've EVER seen in my life!! I was completely amazed!!

This movie seriously exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be good, but I didn't know it would be THAT good. The beginning seemed to rush, but so does the beginning of the book.

What stood out for me was the acting, especially from Emma Watson. Wow! She's bloody brilliant! There were SO many scenes that I loved, but off the top of my head: Hermione erasing her parents memories; George telling his ear jokes :D ; the dance between H/Hr...so SWEET! All the little R/Hr moments! Loved them. This movie really showed a more adult side to R/Hr relationship; the Locket scene...Dang...I was not expecting that kiss to be that HOT! The "animal" statement was not an exaggeration. DOBBY!! I got so happy (literally couldn't stop smiling) when Dobby appeared! Xenophilus Lovegood, I loved Rhys Ifans portrayal of him. Perfect. Godric's Hollow...I love how they kept it so creepy just like in the book! I was worried they would tone it down, but they didn't! I won't be able to sleep tonight...which is why I'm on here right now. :)

All in all...this movie was amazing and I can't wait to see it like 10 more times.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand right. I thought about Best Picture Award.

For the visual effects - yes, yes.
