The Official Harry Potter Thread

I've heard that it could be released with Red Riding Hood, but I'm thinking WB may release it with Sucker Punch.
Both of them are WB films...either way I just want to SEE IT!!

But at the same time I don't want to, because that just means we're getting closer to the end. :(

just came across this little story
so sad but sweet of JK:(

btw, does anyone know when the new trailer will be released? i really can't wait

Oh gosh... thats so sad. That was sweet of J.K. Rowling to name the character after her though.

That story is sad. JK Rowling has named characters after real life people on other occasions too. There's a character in book 6 named after a charity that Daniel Radcliffe supports (Demelza Hospice Care for Children). The character's name was Demelza Robins.

There's another story involving a 6 year old girl with cancer who sent a letter to JK Rowling asking what would happen next and JKR replied with this email:

Dear Catie, I am working very hard on book four at the moment...on a bit that involves some new creatures Hagrid has brought along for the care of Magical Creatures classes. You are an extremely brave person and a true Gryffindor. With lots of love, JK Rowling (Jo to anybody in Gryffindor).'

She emailed the little girl back and fourth and even called to read her parts of the unfinished manuscript to Goblet of Fire.

When that little girl passed away, JKR wrote this letter to her parents:

'I consider myself privileged to have had contact with Catie. I can only aspire to being the sort of parent both of you have been to Catie during her illness. I am crying so hard as I type. She left footprints on my heart all right. With much love, Jo.'

This was back in 2000 right when Harry Potter had really gotten a lot of attention.

JK Rowling also mentioned in her interview with Oprah that she used to write Mattie Stepanek (those of you who watch Oprah know him as the little boy who wrote the "Heart Song" books).

Stories like that always get me. It's so sad, especially since these kids are so young. :(

...that'd be tomorrow!!! OMG, i hope this is true! :buzz: (i won't get my hopes up though)

^I hope that's true, but none of the Fan sites have reported and the fan sites usually get the first tip when WB plans to release the trailer.

It's 4 months until the movie comes out, so the trailer should be released very soon! :D :buzz:

Some more HP news:

The Royal Mail released 8 new First Class stamps celebrating British magical figures. Dumbledore and Voldemort were two of the 8. The others were Rincewind and witch Nanny Ogg, from Terry Pratchett's Discworld, Aslan the Lion and the White Witch, from CS Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, and Arthurian figures of wizard Merlin and Morgan le Fay.

Warner Bros announced that the World Premiere for Deathly Hallows Part II will be held on July 7th in Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square. Here's WB's press release about the MASSIVE premiere:
Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that the world premiere of the final instalment of the Harry Potter film series, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 2, will take place in London’s Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square on 7th July 2011.

This will be the first red carpet film premiere event in Trafalgar Square, the instantly recognisable landmark providing the iconic backdrop for one of the biggest film premieres to ever take place in the capital.

The cast, filmmakers and guests attending the final Harry Potter premiere will begin the night on the red carpet in Trafalgar Square with the world’s media in attendance. Special areas will be reserved within the square for fans and competition winners from all over the world to see the actors and creators of some of the most beloved characters of all time. Cast and guests will then make their way to Leicester Square’s cinemas to watch the film.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "For the last decade we've been gripped by the on-screen battle between Harry Potter and his arch enemy Lord Voldemort and this is one of the most eagerly awaited films in history. As befits a great British triumph, I can think of no better venue than the iconic surroundings of Trafalgar Square in which to stage the most spectacular of send offs for this dramatic finale”.

Josh Berger, President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Pictures UK commented “We are delighted that our plans for the finale of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will take place in such a spectacular venue. We pride ourselves on the creativity of our premieres and the space within Trafalgar Square will lend itself to being a magical experience for both guests and fans.”

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson reprise their roles as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

The final part in the film series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is directed by David Yates, director of the last three films. The producers are David Heyman, the producer of all of the Harry Potter films, David Barron who has produced six of the films and J.K. Rowling. Steve Kloves adapted the screenplay, based on the novel by J.K. Rowling. Lionel Wigram is the executive producer, with John Trehy and Tim Lewis as co-producers.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 2 opens in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on July 15th 2011.

actually it's gonna be released today...it's supposed to be shown before "Red riding hood" and some other movie and they're both released today. hopefully it'll hit the web soon as well:buzz:

Usually when the HP trailers are released, fan sites like Mugglenet, Snitchseeker, and The Leaky Cauldron get an email from Warner Bros, so that they can alert the fans.
None of those sites have even posted the Virgin Media rumor.

I think WB will probably release it with Sucker Punch the weekend of March 25th! :D

Here's some great news about one of the Potter movies: :buzz:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has been named film of the decade at the First Light Awards.

The award is voted for by the public in association with the Bafta Kids' Vote, and is chosen by children aged five to 15.

"We made the film for children of all ages from 5 to 105 really, but clearly a core part of our audience is young people and to be honored is a privilege," said producer David Heyman.

Heyman accepted the award from Clemence Poesy, the actress who has played Fleur Delacour in several Potter films.

Way to go, POA! :D

The ABC Family's Harry Potter Weekend started today and they showed some small previews of DH2 like Harry & Draco’s fight in the Room of Requirement, the dragon, the final courtyard battle... interviews with the actors, etc. :)

I'm watching it right now!! The clip they just showed was AMAZING! I got chills!

They showed Ron crying over Fred. :(

Thank you for posting the link. The first look is so epic!

I just did a Harry Potter movie marathon with some friends. We split it into two days because the movies are so long! I've never noticed this before, but in the duelling club scene in the second movie, Lockhart has a pretty awesome cape. <3

And from the fourth movie onwards, Emma Watson's eyebrows do interesting jumps when she's talking.
