The Perfect Tee

How do American Apparel sizes run in their tees? What's the best t-shirt they make?

James Perse is the only brand i've discovered so far that makes good t-shirts, but the $60 price tag is a bit of a turn off.

American Apparel tees don't seem like anything special IMO...the fabric isn't the greatest, and I think Muji has better value for plain tees. AA hoodies are really nice though.

susie thanks for the correction. I'm just back home in HK over the summer though, I'm normally at Michigan for school from Sept-April!

J Crew used to make nice long sleeve shirts. I have a black one that was purchased about 2 years ago. The color and fit has barely changed after many washes it has endured. However, I went to the store a few weeks ago looking for another shirt in a different color but they changed the fit. It is now much longer and tight. Blah....why???? It used to be so nice and not even expensive ($20)!!!!!

I love Muji...they have some great basics. The stores in HK are much better than the ones in London.
Cool! I haven't even been back yet. I just graduated from UCL in London so now I dunno whether to stay or go back....

thought i'd drag this back up....
i'm on a hunt for good quality, reasonably priced, well fitted long sleeved t-shirts.....
i never thought it would be this difficult.....

i dont want anything too 'tight'....but i want it fitted....
no v-necks....
basic colors...black, navy, grey etc....

ive bought several in the last few weeks only to have to return them because the stitching was coming undone after one wear...
this has happened three times now....??!!!!....

anyone have any suggestions...??....
i am in canada....so places like jcrew arent available, unfortunately....
club monaco, banana republic, AA, gap, etc....they're all here.....ive tried looking but cant even see any long sleeved tees in banana and c.monaco....?

also....what is the best combination of materials to go for..?
100% cotton....or cotton with 5% spandex....?
obviously i want them to keep their shape....but be comfortable....not show up with perspiration marks etc....

any and all suggestions would be so welcome....thx...:flower:

^thanks for the suggestion bleck...:flower:
i tried AA today....
the cotton is very thin....
and the stitching is uneven......
the sleeves are slightly too long and the finish around the wrist is badly done.....looks frayed almost....

i was disappointed....because i was really hoping they'd have something....:(

re-checked c.monaco and b.republic.....nothing....
GAP has their long sleeved favorite tees....but the fit is so wrong for me....:ermm:
jacob (a canadian store, i think...??) had some but they were very 'shiny' and looked more like a workout type shirt....
i even checked old navy out of desperation but again, they are either too loose or too tight.....its like i'm right in between sizes....

ahhhh....help....!!!!!

Petit Bateau...
www.petit-bateau.com

Sometimes available at Saks, Barneys in U.S. NY PB stores will ship to you...but, get in Europe if you can... (Paid about $30/shirt in US, about 1/2-1/3 of that price in Italy)

I have gotten long-sleeved Ts from Patagonia (and bonus, they're organic cotton), but they discontinued my favorite line (the Mobility T). You might still take a look--they've got everything online, a pretty nice website, and the quality is generally very good. It's also a great company to buy from ... they do good stuff with a percentage of what they take in.
