I love getting vintage clothes. You can find almost any shape or height to suit your body. I have trouble with clothes that fit the lower half of my body, vintage works with my curves almost perfectly. I'm starting to archive some clothes I buy, and I'm finding some great larger pieces that I would love to share one day.

Wow, so many Vegas people here. Where do you get your vintage clothes? You can actually find some really nice stuff buried here and there but we lack any truly great stores! One good Savers just ain't cutting it.

I would love to know too! I've never had luck with the fit of vintage. The cut is always bad for my shape, and it never seemed like a good idea to buy a vintage garment and then try alterations. As a result it's been a long time since I even tried.

And I hate Savers. I've been a handful of times but never found anything, and the smell drives me crazy. I do like The Refinery for consignment, but their prices are high.

^ LOL, the only nice one is the one on Trop near the Liberace museum. There's one on Rancho close to where I live, but it sucks. My favorite part is coats, because you can actually find nice ones, particularly in the nicer neighborhoods (like near the Lakes/Spanish Trail). Is Buffalo Exchange any good?

Buffalo Exchange is great. You can find all kinds of sizes there. I thrift about four or three days a week. Savers is good to me. Havent been to deseret industries in forever. Even the Attic, but its a little expensive.

I used to have my clothes custom made by mom, but that luxury is gone since she still lives in California.

^ OK, cool, I need to check it out sometime. I like Deseret because the quality is always good. Those Mormons donate good stuff :p

I am a former Vegas resident (1995-2000). I loved Savers. I have a couple of pairs of shoes that I still wear that I bought there: Saks Fifth Avenue black ballet flats and Ellen Tracy gray flannel skimmers. Brings back memories.

Today, I give you Jenn Hudson w/Jackson Browne. I like the LBD:

Jennifer looks beautiful. Her dress fits her very well and her hair and make-up look good too. When I was a teen I LOOOOOOVED Jackson Browne. I still do but he's looking a bit tired these days.

So many Vegas connections in one thread. Weirdness! Anyway, Jennifer looks great, but she almost always does. She really knows how to flatter he rbody and she's also lucky to have some height.

She is 5'9" or 5'10" and from personal experience, height does help. My figure isn't similar to hers in the sense that she has breasts and I really don't (I veer between an A and B cup). I love many of her goddess looks, but they are better on women who have fullness on top.

Here is MGR wearing what's ID'd as Carolina Herrera (credit: Style.com), but it looks a bit like de la Renta's yellow gown that Kerry Washington's been photographed it.

I would have done a tank neckline instead of strapless because we see the dreaded "quadratetas."

And if we had a senior style thread, I'd post a picture of Deeda Blair. She's nowhere near plus, so I'm not posting a pic in here, but she kills it for a 70-something person.

^ Glad to know I'm not the only one lacking a chest. I'm a B and it drives me crazy because all of my clothes are cut for women with large breasts.

Ergh, again she looks bad! She has access to the best designers, tailors and stylists but she can't find a dress that fits and flatters her body?

Maybe we should start a Las Vegas Style thread? People would expect to read about Elvis jumpsuits and showgirl gear. :p

MGR's gown is beautiful but it's been a long time since I've seen a worse fit! Yow. I hope that wasn't as uncomfortable as it looks.

Now I'll have to go and find pix of Deeda Blair. (I admit I take most of my style cues from women who aren't plus.)

As you can see, Kate Mulleavy, designer of Rodarte, is a full-fashioned gal (left, with sister Laura). I just got a Rodarte trapeze top from the Gap Design Editions. But she seems to have some problem with dressing herself. You would think that if you are a designer and have access to such things, you'd dress yourself flatteringly and properly:

And here's another "don't," courtesy of fashion doyenne Fern Mallis. She should know better. The prints together are just...

you know what always confused me about Rodarte. how they manage to create such unflattering clothes that would only look good on a stick figure when their designer is a full figured woman.

on another note, i cant believe ive neglected coming to this thread for so long  . but i dont think i have much to contribute

Guessgirl, is she a plus? I always have trouble eyeballing it, and now it's really tricky for me since anything double digit is considered plus in some circles.

It does have a wrap dress effect and an open neck, which is always nice. Personally I'm not fond of sleeves with any kind of puff, but that's just my own taste.

To me, she seems to be a 10 misses (which may be plus modeling, but no way in real life that's a plus.) I like the color and the wrapping, but I'm also not a fan of puff sleeves. That's why I took a pass on the Gap Design Editions Thakoon items. Those sleeves.

3RingCircus thank you for reminding me of Johanna Dray! I've had that photoshoot saved on my hard drive with the intent of blogging about them for awhile now. She's really a stunning woman.

I like what Jennifer Hudson has been wearing lately. She's really learned alot from ALT, she looked great at the Costume Institute Gala.

Aha! Now the pieces are falling into place...he he he I'm in that side of the business so I have a lot of amazing photos of various plus models. When my site goes live I'll link you.

As for all those socialites you ladies talk about, I haven't liked anything they've worn. Money apparently buys neither taste nor a good tailor. Classic1908 - love the phrase "quadratetas"!

I am also glad that they reconciled. Andre, even with his excesses, does have influence. And it happens to be the right person at the right time. It took Vogue some time to get Queen Latifah a decent placement (she was the "curvy" profile in the Shape Issue in 2005, I think).

3Ring, thanks. Quadratetas sounds better than quadraboob.
Now I do like Marjorie's manicured, polished style....on myself. I am taller and have a defined waist, but of course, not the financial resources.

^ I went through all 50 of her pictures and I saw ONE flattering outfit. She needs to hire a great stylist ASAP!
