ok I can't figure this song out and it's driving me CRAZY!

It's sung by a male with a kind of drawling voice, sounds like an american accent? I think he says something like "never thought that I'd...." and then a girl (backup singer?) sings "die for you, die for you, die for you". The whole song's slightly comical and monotone...
