and the upsets continue...

egads,i know tomas was going to be a tough call for roger but i did not expect him to get beaten so handily in those final two sets.

but we've been saying for a few weeks now....roger is vulnerable. i wonder what this will do for his hard court season?

and venus and serena were beaten in doubles by vera and elena vesnina. seems to me vera and elena have become quite the formidable team. and what a tournament for vera after the year she's had? to have such a great week of good tennis in singles, beating kim to get to the semis and a possible final, she comes back today and helps beat the most dominate doubles team.

They would get thrashed in the main draw because Kournikova's serve just wouldn't stand up. At least this way they get to have some fun on court and it's round robin so they play a few matches and lots of people get a chance to see them.

well that's nothing new. her serve was always kind of a liability especially those latter years before she stopped playing as a pro.

Can I come in here to cry?

No, I'm okay! ;) Will have to wait for later to watch the match highlights but I guess it's been coming for a while. Roger had a ropey couple of opening rounds, I thought he was getting back to his old form and then he gets outplayed from the sounds of it.

This Wimbledon has been crazy! What's gonna happen next?

^ It would be cool if Nadal and Murray lost too, I kinda like what's going on in the womens draw.

Seriously now, RF had 20something grand slam semis in a row and now he's been out in the quarters two times in a row?! Interesting, especially because this time it's in Wimbledon, even if he could use the clay excuse for RG, he doesn't have excuses now. I'm excited to see what he can do at US Open.

it's an interesting thing that's going on in women's tennis at the moment with the lower-ranked and veteran players seemingly doing better in the majors than most in the top 10. seems francesca and sam may have inspired a lot of players after RG.

that's too bad for tsonga. it looked all the world that it was going to be a tighter match after the first set but he kind of lost his intensity after andy won the second set.

btw, speaking about the inv. doubles....i saw that one of my former favourites, maggie maleeva,is participating as well!

they need silvia farina elia now ;)

Berdych/Djokovic is potentially going to be an awesome match - I guess not many watched Novak but he looked in great form. In some ways Rogers loss is a huge upset, in other ways not so much, I wonder what the rest of the year holds for him.

I felt SO sick when I saw Rafa down 5-0  and although Soderling kind of checked out of the match, I felt Rafa kept up his intensity, played some great points and ready for the next round :D

I cry with you:cry:

That's really sad that Federer lost today. :( Can't believe he's number three in the world now. It's shocking.

I need a Murray v. Djokovic final. I just need Rafael Nadal out.

^ Oh God, number 3  . Well everyone has their ups & downs. And ditto, I can't stand Nadal :judge:
Djokovic is my only hope now :(

Don't get me wrong I like Federer's tennis. But at times I feel like he is only able to show good sportsmanship if he's the winner. I think Thomas should've got a bit more recognition from Federer for winning.

Vera! :buzz: This almost makes up for yesterday.

However, very sad to see Justine is out for at least two months with ligament damage to her elbow after falling in her match against Clijsters. That means she'll miss the US Open. :(

I'm pretty deceived by the women's draw with Serena making the finals once more again really annoying especially if she wins the title again. As for the boys this is the greatest Wimbledon I've seen in years and I hope Andy wins the tourney this is his greatest chance especially against Rafa a player he can casually beat when at his best.

I'm not a betting man but I'd bet my TOP picks for this grandslam(Serena and Rafa) with merge victorious

I like Federer but his failed sportsmanship was disrespectful to Berdych who legitimately won that match fair

Im happy for Nadal and Murray.....good thing Soderling was worn out by his prior 5 set match, he gave my baby a one way ticket to the semifinals

let's just hope vera can sustain her mental fortitude because if she can she can definitely give serena something to think about.

and much applause to petra kvitova too! she really made the most of not only her run but her presence in that semifinal. she stayed tough in that first set and was in the majority of the points after it was level, even on some of serena's serves.
