Ok, Stan won easily...but guess who is his next adversary? Roger how-do-you-want-to-beat-him Federer. enough said.:doh::doh:

^well monfils has been injured of late and it most likely is a contributor in his poor play.

a nice looking match today between petrova and rezai....anybody want to predict this? petrova has a nice history at RG and is a good clay courter and rezai is very confident. i wonder if experience might prevail? personally,as much as i like rezai,i'd love to see a resurgent petrova again.

That's definitely a close one. Still can't predict the winner.
Kuzi and Elena are having troubles, I really hope Elena goes through.

Some good matches earlier, I'm glad Čilić managed to go through in the end, and Ljubičić too.

^lena and sveta are struggling at the moment indeed. i am hoping they both can fight through it...lena just broke back for 3/4 so maybe.

All these final set breaks for Elena, I keep my fingers crossed!
Happy for Rafa's win and Cilic too, though it was tight at the end - Soderling next. Did anyone see Djokovic match? I didn't but the livescore showed the match was closer than the final scoreline suggested & apparently his allergies were a problem again. Oh! And a bagel each for Murray and Verdasco?!

thank heavens!!!!

and she cried too...i wish i could hug her.

i really hope this will give her more confidence having gone through such an arduous match.

wow-this petrova vs. rezai match is good!

^aw! i'm so relieved...even though i've watched many matches like this, that feeling never changes when you really really want one person to win.

^completely agree. and lena has had such a frustrating last few weeks it's nice to see her fight through a match like this especially in a major. i think a match like this could make her even more mentally tough in her next rounds.

can't really say that for poor sveta though. tough first round with match points against her and everything it's too bad she couldn't get a foothold on anything today.

anxiety galore with petrova and rezai....egads those last few points were tense. you know looking at the h2h between venus(who will be the next opponent for rezai or petrova)and nadia i kind of hope rezai may get through now. petrova does not have any wins against venus at all and only took one set from her,and rezai just beat venus in madrid on clay too. rezai is so fearless. and those last few points showed how tense nadia can get.

Aww, Lena was so sweet when she dropped to her knees at the end of that match. And every time I see a shot of her mother I feel really bad for her because she's been put through the wringer.

Tomorrow's line-up on Chatrier looks very good I must say. Particularly excited for Hewitt vs Nadal and Henin vs Sharapova.

^Makes me think of Youzhny's coach, he's so expressive in the stands, poor man!

so happy lena got an easier match today! and you know what she's looking good. her draw has opened up considerably well now that petrova beat venus. if she can get through nadia and her next round against either pennetta or wozniacki,we could finally see her in another final again. she definitely has a tremendous opportunity and i truly hope that she can take it. i would love to see lena lift up this trophy.

^ you know this is my dream too! and Justine winning as well, so happy for that

^indeed. so glad juju was able to rely on her resolve in that. i had a feeling she would most certainly turn it around but it was a close one. and sam is next and possibly serena after.

too bad about pennetta. she had big leads in both the first and second sets,in fact serving for both, against wozniacki but she let caroline back in it.

and how about frannie?! i think frannie might have just enough to give caroline fits. and if she can keep a level head and not give into pressure could spell an upset, imo. caroline looked absolutely sluggish out there on top of having the ankle and thigh injuries.

Elena Dementieva is the best active player to never win a slam. I would love to see her get this one. But she seems to be struggling from what I've seen of her. I'm not sure she could overcome Justine or Serena. I actually think she might have her hands full with Petrova who a few years back was a dark horse pick for RG but never fulfilled her potential.

Didn't see any of Tsonga's match today but I saw the one before and he didn't look happy. Sad to see him go out. He just can't seem to shake off injury for long enough to get the results he should be getting.

Aaargh, Justine. An 'allez' too far. Stosur got riled up and finished her off. Have to say Justine gave her some help too. Poor play in the final set with double faults at crucial times.

Does Stosur have enough game to give Serena a challenge in the QF?

^that's what i wonder too. i will say perhaps beating juju on clay shows how good sam really is on this surface and how well she's been playing the last month or so. i think it could be close,if anything.

^Sam looked really good! and she was so calm and composed. Justine on the otherhand was jumpy at times.

frannie!!!! so happy for her. she played unbelievably well. probably better that i've ever seen her play in a situation like this. and she'll be in the top 10 btw.

and elena.....i was worried after that first set but nadia wasn't moving as well after. all i can say is this will be lena's chance.

I thought this open draw was Caroline's chance, but I guess she'll really have to take a break and let those injuries heal. Although she didn't lose because of that, but Schiavone was too good. I'm happy for her, especially breaking into top ten. I think she has a good chance to make it to the final, with Elena having that injury.

How about Soderling?! I would LOVE him to make a surprise by beating a fav second year in a row!
