Theyskens confirmed at Nina Ricci - updated

^Well, Nina Ricci has been more stable than Paco, but you definately have a point
i do think that the executives at Nina are going to be a bit more strict with Oliver, I mean, his work is amazing but it also has to sell

Hum ... Im totally wondering about his interpretation of the Ricci aesthetic ... somehow I think it maybe more interesting than he has done before ... though I agree I wud have preferred to see him design his own stuff ...

I think Nina Ricci will invest a lot in a new bag line, because that's where all the money is (well and perfumes of course).

is the marketing for nina ricci better than rochas or are they about par? i can't wait for this... for some reason, i don't think the aesthetic of rochas and nina ricci are radically different but i agree that olivier can bring a distinction. i'd love to see this ... it'd be the hot ticket for next season (if ever they decide to show right away)

I just read the piece posted by Kimair again and I found out it isn't that awkard:

is said to be zeroing in on a date to show the pre-fall collection at Ricci's Chelsea showrooms with the invitation list limited to some 50 guests.

We're not talking about the Nina Ricci show here, which will be in Paris in March. We're only talking about the precollection, and it's quite common to invite some press people but not all of them. Besides, I'm sure the pre-collection will be shown at the Paris showroom as well, where press people can see the pre collection if they would like to.

^Nina is a little better with marketing than Rochas. At least they run ads for their rtw line, some of which are gorgeous btw.

^ I don't recall seeing any ads for the Ricci RTW (not saying there weren't any ;))

I'm not sure if Rochas was doing a great job with editorial placement, or if the magazines were banging down their door asking for stuff, but I sure have seen a lot of it in magazines ...

^ Nina Ricci always creates ads, but I almost never see them in magazines.

I've only seen two Ricci ads in magazines- a Vlada one (can't remember the issue) and a Mona one (in Elle magazine a few seasons ago).

^ how do you know it was designed by Olivier Theyskens  ..it might be from this ss07collection too

His name is listed in a caption on their homepage for the same image.

well if it is him this looks VERY promising. that is one of my fav, if not THE fav dress, of the evening for me.

very Theyskens...the silhouette and the sharpness is very distinctive of him.

and might i add,off topic,i love the dress but somehow on reese it looks really bland. she carries it very, very safely. on cate blanchett or somebody i would have thought that looked amazing.

word on the f/w 07 show...from fashionweekdaily.com

Olivier Theyskens may have chosen New York to show his first designs for Nina Ricci this week, but his heart still belongs to Paris. Word surfaced at this morning’s intimate presentation of Theyskens' first collection that the revered designer will be showing his first formal Fall 2007 Nina Ricci collection in the city of lights. A firm date is still pending schedule clearance by the Chambre Syndicale, but it’s likely to be on March 4 at 11:00 a.m. The show will also be presented at the Espace Ephémère Tuileries, a location used by Viktor & Rolf, Chloé, and the former Rochas, but there’s a twist. “It will be the same space, but a little different,” the spokesman said, noting that the large venue will most likely not house the several hundred of which it is capable.

Reese Witherspoon, easily one of the night’s standouts, went modern and chic in a one-of-a-kind yellow cocktail length Nina Ricci dress designed by Olivier Theyskens. “I decided to wear a very new dress,” she doted, harking back to last year’s issue with one said “vintage” Chanel. Given that it’s Theyskens’ first collection for Ricci, it’s simply impossible someone else could have worn it before. "She's really Ricci," said Theyskens from New York. "I got an image of her in this yellow with white flowers. She's a woman with a real point of view, and because I am similar to that, I wanted to see her in that dress."
