that store looks quite amazing runner.....all white. Its reminding me slightly of the Martin Margiela stores in that respect. Not sure I like the 'Chloe Cafe' sign very much - it seems incongruent with the design of the cafe itself. Its like its been stuck on as an afterthought.

Gorgeous little jacket

do you like it runner?

I like it helena
reminds me of the kindergarten uniform which I remember gave me a hard time though.

oh my goodness I am sure you were super cute!!!! do all the little children there wear those type of jackets?

maybe not all
but that sort of jacket for A/W, and something like smock for S/S at some kindergartens, for example

gorgeous!!!!!Maybe ms Philo took her inspiration from small Japanese children

I'm curious to know whether most of these stores/boutiques carry sizes that would fit someone whose 6'3" with an "athletic" build? thanks...

runner - he means six foot and three inches.....in height.

Ok so L'eclaireur does japan.....that will work very well I would imagine. Will it be near where you are runner?

thank you helena

once there was a plan for their Tokyo store in the 90's.
but it was brought to a halt.
I hope it will work too.
it's not so near. it's about a 40-minute ride.

...Runner, its funny, the man who owns L'Eclaireur looks like a Hobbit. He is nice! I think you will enjoy the L'Eclaireur 'experience'.....(and the clothes ) - they make you drink lots of strong coffee!!!!!

thanks for the info helena
I'm looking forward to that!

unmetro, for example, the stores here usually buy only 1-4 from cdiem which also makes 5-7.
but they generally have other labels whose clothes are on the large side.
at lift, Gustavolins etc.

hehe...yep...um..tat would be 190.5 cm....

In the past I ALWAYS had trouble finding clothes in asia, really a pity...has this changed in the last few years?

I'm afraid 190 with "athletic build" is a unsupposed size for the Japanese domestic designer labels on the whole still. especially for the ones popular now among younger people.
mastermind may make some that would suit you.
also you'd find your clothes at Masatomo.
a friend of mine is about the same size as you.
he seems to like to wear bespoke.
and he said he used to buy Yohji pieces used on the runway on sale and that they're sometimes generous even for him.
if you like brands other than Japanese ones, most of G Armani stuff here, for example, is availabe in size 56 which I guess is 100 cm around the waist. I believe there are some things in 58.

thanks runner, I'll be sure to give your suggestions a try when next I return...at least I know there is some hope...hehe ;-)

I'll be in Tokyo from Dec 27 till Jan 1.
Planning to visit UnderCover, Comme des Garcons (main + 10 corso como), Lad Musician, Lift stores, etc...

Can someone advise me on their holiday schedules? What are the dates that they are closed for the New Year?

Thanks!

you're welcome unmetro

almost all those sorts of stores are closed on New Year's Day.

maybe Lift's will be open till Dec. 30 (at least, ecru was saying so)
CdG flagship till Dec. 29, so will corso como I guess
but the CdG's in department stores will sell till 31 since you can visit Seibu, Isetan, etc on the day.

See, I like that. That's so human - go home for the holiday, rest for a few days. This does not happen in the United States. :(
