Top ten moments in fashion

Amazing thread! :buzz: I have yet to see what everyone comes up with!

Fendi is definitely number 1! I don't think that can be topped.

Christian Dior HC F/W 07.08 at Versailles, the location and themodels, that was greaaaaat

Some that come to mind for me...

Alexander McQueen s/s 04 "They Shoot Horses Don't They"

That sweaty, mad, destroyed glamour version of a dance marathon was probably the most fantastic show he's ever staged. Beyond that the clothes were just beautiful.

Gucci f/w 03

The final seven looks, corseted, buckled and harnesses column dresses parading down a rose petal covered runway with loose petals falling from overhead. The whole show was gorgeous, but the finale was beyond beautiful.

Dior Couture f/w 1997
Wasp-waisted belle epoque courteseans, Mata Hari, Art Nouveau and the Maharajahs of India combined in a quintessentially Galliano way.

Thank you for everyone's great contributions! I especially love McQueen Spring 1999 as well as Dior HC Fall 1997. :flower:

Here are my two cents. :flower:

Chloe Fall 2006-Stammy's fall

I know I'm being mean, but this moment was priceless.

Dior s/s 00 Couture

At first I was facinated by this collection simply for the subject matter, not many designers would find beauty in poverty and madness, let alone put it on a haute couture runway. And then I started to love how daring it is. Sex, nudity, aggression, violence...this collection made those once shocking things designers sometimes go to seem harmless and unthreatening.

Alexander McQueen s/s 98 "The Golden Shower"

The finale, where yellow lighting illuminated the "rainfall" that drenched the thin white clothing and made it transparent, while the models makeup ran down their faces, was a perfect combination of perversion and beauty.

Dior Haute Couture SS 04
The whole show is phenomenal, but the first 3 minutes are the most amazing part, with Beyonce's "Baby Boy" remix and the quick little sample of the whistling in "Walk Like an Egyptian"....it gets me every time. And Erin's opening look is one of the most amazing outfits ever created.

Dior Haute Couture SS 05
The clothes are gorgeous, the presentation is so chic and I love the live music. It was such a genius theme. I think it's absolutely genius how John look Bob Dylan's quote "Andy Warhol is like Napoleon in rags" and created a collection based on the women in both those men's lives. The transformation of the Edie Sedgwick look into the Dutch masters section and finally into the pregnant Empress Josephine. It's actually a very moving collection, especially the middle section with the violins.

Balenciaga FW 06
Nicholas's most influential collection. The whole atmosphere of the show, the extreme clean look, the shapes, the textures, the shoes, the hats, the reinterpretation of the Balenciaga archives, the music, the whole thing just felt so right and so important.

Alexander McQueen FW 06
One of the most emotionally moving shows I've ever seen. The whole atmosphere of the collection. The rough, wood floors, the glass pyramid. The music was so perfect and made the show very emotional. The clothes were the best of the best of McQueen, so delicate, so powerful, so rustic and yet so refined. And the black velvet dresses make me weak in the knees. The hats were awe inspiring. And of course, the hologram of Kate Moss at the end will definitely will go down in fashion history.

Ahhh, Spike & Dior_Couture have me covered!

Gucci FW RTW 2003 is a moment that is forever in my mind. The entire show, from start to finish, was such a statement of beauty, elegance, romance, and luxury that I connected with. It does something to me everytime.

Dior SS HC 2004 was just amazing. The extravagance and opulence of it was too moving. And the pretentious, yet simple posing was amazing. It all frazzles my mind to think of how much work went into creating those garments. It leaves me speechless each time.

My aesthetics are somewhere in between these two shows. These two shows are the epitome of fashion for me. ^_^

hmm these are all amazing choices... im going to go a little depressive, (some are not) and name a few 'moments' that arent so gorgeous but heart stopping all the same for the fashion industry

Gianni Versace being shot

isabella blow dying

Anna Wintour taking over American Vogue

Valentino, Ralph Lauren, (damn cant think of the other one) retiring,

LVMH forming.

Kate moss in the first CK ad

Linda, Christy et all all walking down the runway - yes itscheesy and overrated but i see it and it does kind of embody the glamour of fashion, shows and the presses and the general publics obsession with building fashion up.
