Top ten moments in fashion

*Shalom Harlow being spray painted by two mechanical arms for the McQueen show ... if you see the video ... you see the audience stand up and applaud ... it just takes your breath away.

*Guccis runway show where Tom showcased a male model wearing an interlocked metal G's gstring.

*Kate Moss CKOne ads for CK ... that was a defining moment for a decade! -or even the Marky Mark commercial-

*When you saw the micro-bikini at the Chanel show

*Madonna on the catwalk for JPG with a baby carriage

*Galliano's debut at Dior for HC ... that entire shows burned in my mind

*Chalayans sugar dresses ... when you'd see the models break the other models dress with hammers ... or the robot ones when long skirts turned small and stuff... i just think of it and begin to cry

*V&R russian doll HC collection ... peeling Maggie Rizer away

I think thats it for now ... more to come

- When Isabella Rosalini hosted the Paris couture shows broadcast on cable TV in the late 90's

- The VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards

- Bedazzle craze, safety-pin jeans and Madonna t-shirts at Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2001

what a great thread, guys so many beautifull videos and reactions .. I still think that John and alexander are the best .. so the rest isnt that bad but the need to do their best

I wonder what makes dolce and gabbana show a top moment

It's entirely personal, but for me the Madonna t-shirts, the use of celebrity in such a way hadn't really been touched by high fashion before this. The girls looked fabulous and the styling was funky, cool and very reminiscient of the time. I remember seeing those jeans, thinking they were the most fabulous things I had ever seen and quickly copying them...:innocent:

one of my moments

carine took over vogue paris in 2001!!!!!!!!

One of them for me would be the reinvented September 1992 issue of Bazaar under Liz Tilberis with the spectacular Linda Evagelista on the cover.

The most recent "fashion moment" for me was the Hussein Chalayan SS07/08 show with the transforming clothes through out all periods of fashion history...It blew my mind how extraordinary this concept was materialized...
Back then, I remember the debut of Olivier Theyskens for Rochas was also a highlight for me...And of course, in terms of showmanship, Alexander Mcqueen's shows have always been spectacles, esp in the late 90s, early 00's...One show that stood out for me was FW 1999/2000 "The Shining"

...Oh my, and how could I forget Comme des Garcons' SS1997 "Lumps and Bumps" collection, it was a brave, original and controversial concept to distorte the body shape

as kiddokiddo has said, hussein chalayn - where the clothes were transforming into different outfits ...was so innovative and interesting.

2005: Pilati 1st & 2nd debuts for YSL .... a women wardobe was completly transformed with his wide belt, tulip skirt, ruffles & polka dot .... romance & virginity were back & Tom Ford's sexy & slutry hype is over.

I agree! YSL FW 05 is one of my top 10 favorite collections of all time:blush:. It was that collection that made me LOVE Stefano and YSL. It was so chic, it was so sophisticated...it was everything I imagined YSL to be. In my opinion, Pilati does YSL better than YSL did YSL!

I don't like so much what Stefano has done in FW 07/ SS 08, but it's still chic. I prefer the tighter, stiffer, ruffled, more controlled YSL of 2005/ 2006 as opposed to this new looser, minimalist look he's got going now.:innocent::cry:

marc jacobs 2001-2002

Marc Jacobs ss 02 collection shown on the night of September 10, 2001 would be watershed not only for how solidly he dove into nostalgia but how the destruction of lower Manhattan less than 12 hours later would suddenly make his collection seem political, a celebration of times more innocent, sleepy, American and hands free. In my opinion, it was the start of Marc as taste maker. This presentation in cohorts with what he'd show for fw 02 made an impact and was of such importance that he has yet to surpass it, split side seams or no split side seams. all pics style.com, fall follows spring

i I agree dior_couture1245 I feel that Pilati might loose his role as a trend setter as he did in the past years :(, this new style is totaly not him.. not so sure & confident as his early collections .. . i feel he is trying to pretend to be someone else in his latest S/S debut...it seems like a searching period for him.. but he have to do so .. he can't do ruffles & belts forever

WOW look at the models here compared to the models today... in comparison these models could be the models of today's mums!:(

Good moment birdofparadise.

I remember those Marc Jacobs collections, but I never knew the s/s show was so close in time to the Sept. 11 events. That whole spring show season and the following fall season really made people think about the importance of fashion. I also think it was the first time for many people in the post-Vietnam generations when fashion really reflected the state of the world.

Fitting that the hippie chic/ late 60's-early 70's look was the prevailing mood in nearly every show following.
