Toronto Street Style

^most designers fled to europe or the states. i agree on the logo thing.

i went into the aritzia on bloor once...i fled within 5 minutes. couldnt stand that place.
my school is one of those art schools, so the fashion scene in my school isnt that that bad...but it's still pretty tragic. fashion is the least of their concerns.

^ actually sometimes art schools is where you find the most awful outfits. They try to be "original" and it just turns ridiculous.

Has anyone been to Dundas Street West there are a couple of good stores out there like Gorgie Bolsworth, and Sunshine deli. The carry a mix of designers, locals and vintage. It was supposed to become one of the hot new shopping districts in the city, but I haven't heard much about it lately.

Thanks for that!:flower: I just moved about an hour from T.O and i want to find some cute vintage shops! No offence but i was walking down young and found myself to be the most dressed up. Most people were in jeans and a coat and ponytail:shock: But I am making it a point to take pictures when i go back!
Its gonna be fun! :woot: :woot: Thank god im not shy. i'll just be like pose for the fashion spot" ! and they will feel special lol

there is a lot of diversity in Toronto; it's great!
thanks for all this pics

I just went to Queen W. today, camera is broken, so no pics. I find Toronto quite corny in terms of fashion. It is either the latest trend with no personal touch or the clique uniform (emo, hip-hop, preppy). Designer clothing are peculiar to the max. People tend to favour chain retail stores. I really do not understand where fashion is here *shrugs*, I find myself lost walking on Queen or Bloor.

Yeah, I definitely agree... really boring stuff to be honest. Hollister, American Eagle and A&F are terrible... and yet it's all you see people in Toronto and Montreal wear! I think Vancouver may be better off fashion-wise, maybe because they tend to have a bit more extra cash on hand?

Now I'm pretty anti-stereotype, but the whole emo scene is getting so out of hand that I wouldn't mind seeing some new-ravers around Toronto. Or at least SOMETHING even remotely new and interesting. Maybe some London-inspired stuff.

Well, we can hope, right?

oh believe me, new ravers exist in toronto.
i dont particularily feel that that is a good thing.

and if you are walking down yonge street, you most likely will be disappointed in terms of fashion.
west queen west (not queen and spadina!), queen street east, dundas west, kensington market, ossington between queen and college = far more interesting.

I think Toronto sounds like one of the dirtiest places I can ever go to, like Miami. The difference is, I actually want to go to Toronto. I like the hip-hop grunge thing going on over there.

^most parts of it is clean!

yup..nu ravers do exsist in toronto. i wear a little neons from time to time, but not overdoing it like real nu ravers.

so jealous - yea...i get what you mean. but in my old highschool, mostly are sterotypical outfits. you know..emos, punks etc.
sometimes i try to pull off something, but dont know if it works or not but i still try it out just to feel it

Good! I dunno why I'm so worried though, it's not like LA is the cleanest place ever!

I don't think Toronto is that bad at all, actually. I mean, you see the occasional homeless guy (ok, maybe 'occasional' is an understatement) but it really isn't "dirty", I wouldn't say. And I'm sure LA has homeless people as well^_^

But about the "hip hop/grunge" thing... is that actually happening? Grunge, maybe, but I'm not sure about hip hop.

And also I had no idea about the new-ravers  From what you guys have said so far it seems like it's a pretty underground thing, so maybe it'll get bigger, especially if the Klaxons hit it big here.

Really? Everytime I see pics of Toronto I see kids wearing high-tops, big gold chains & graffiti baseball caps. I could be wrong though, it was just my impression.

I honestly haven't seen all that much of that... I mean, you see a few people like that every once in a while but it doesn't strike me as a major trend right now.

Although if you've been looking at Toronto streetstyle websites, I can see why you'd get that impression.

I could be wrong though...

yeah, i dont really know why no one has started a good toronto street fashion site.
less pictures of the blogger's friends at parties and in costume.

but you dont see me jumping up to start it, hah.

im thinking nu-rave is still an underground thing here, but from what i hear from his "nu raver" kid that lives in downtown, he said he's getting tired of this nu rave thing already because it's getting more popular.
still, nu rave is still more of a london thing.

i dont know what the hell toronto have.

toddiot - hehe...i see that you find it unfortunate to live in toronto  me too, i cant wait to go to london in september.

Yeah, I find Toronto street fashion websites are a really inaccurate view of what the trendsetters in Toronto are wearing. Like you said, they tend to only take pictures of parties, which are often themed-parties, which makes the resulting website biased fashion-wise.

Toronto just isn't big enough to have amazing street fashion website like London or New York does.

You're going to London? I just came back from London! I would love to live there... it would be expensive at first, but I figure once you get a pound-paying job it would be fine. Everything there is just so much more amazing...

I'm going to stop now^_^

A "popular" trend to me means something you see 1 out of 10 people wearing, like emos in T.O. at the moment. I haven't even noticed any ravers (new or old) on the streets yet, so it must be really underground at the moment. Maybe 1 in 10 people living "underground" are new ravers... but I guess we'd never know until it starts to leak... upwards. ;)

I really hope it does though, it would be sick if neon colours started invading the streets. If people are going to conform to stereotypes... at least get a new one.

Another good place to find a few fashionable gems: Bloor West from Yonge. I see some girls who dress like Chloe Sevigny, but better.

im not sure if that is necessarily true.
smaller cities, even smaller canadian cities have more impressive streetstyle blogs.
i think that there is a lot to be seen that isn't being broadcast.
it's not going to be on the scale of paris, new york or london, but it's not as poorly represented as it is now.

That's true. Maybe the problem is that for the most part, Toronto isn't seen as a really fashionable city by other people. Fashion isn't one of the first things you'd think of if someone mentions Toronto, unlike, say London or Paris.

I think the people wearing all the interesting things are, for the most part, part of the underground culture and tend to never be seen on main Toronto shopping streets, which is where many blogs (would) take pictures.

yes, :) im leaving for london this thursday actually...im there for school. im going to central saint martin.

i dont see alot of people wearing bright colors or neons for that matter. it's not very accessible. but than again, lately im seeing more of these neon pink or yellow graphic tees from H&M and zara. if people are aware or even open enough to wear such colors would be great XD i dont see alot of people wearing wayfarer either.
toddiot, you should have seen me wearing my super colorful maxi dress  that will make up for the lack of nu ravers

bloor west of yonge is pretty much the high fashion area of toronto, so im sure there are chic ladies there wandering around. but still, the percentage is still very small. i dont see alot of those girls whenever i go down to bloor.
