I am really over the mini-skirt

I know that might be blasphemy to some; but i think the mini has had more come-backs than Cher and it's time to move on and let it rest.
Its been done to death!

Now... dare I ask.... does anyone agree with me?

i disagree the mini skirt is like the LBD, jeans, the classic suit, t-shirts to mention a few. they will always be around and there will always be different variations on them. its one of the classics of fashion and will always i think be reinvented or designed so that they stay around in some shape or form.

I merged your thread into a pre-existing thread of a similar theme, sweet_ophelia. hope you don't mind, it just keeps things tidier and more compact. :flower:

I'd have to say that a lot of what you all mentioned is not, in fact, trend at all. Things like cheap flip-flops? Perhaps it's a trend to you, but people around here have been wearing cheap flip-flops since Kmart has been in business.
As far as blonde hair/highlights go...please. I think dying your hair white blonde with dark brown roots is awful, but come on, people have been dying their hair blonde since the first bleach kit came around back in the day. I, personally, am getting sick of all these celebs dying their hair darker. Seriously, if you made it big as a blonde...stick to the blonde. Some people have to do it for movies, I know, but seeing a normally fair haired celeb (bottle blonde or not) sporting auburn tresses kinda irks me.

Knockoff bags are the absolute worst...I still like authentic LV but the fakes are so easy to spot. Fluffy miniskirts are not only gross but unflattering on 99% of the people I see wearing them...you need long, skinny, skinny, skinny legs:innocent: I am very tired of the Jessica Simpson look-a-like attempts all the way from the Juicy's to the ponchos to the poorly done blond highlights that everyone seems to have. As for flip-flops I have to agree that those are not a trend - they just are. I've been wearing them as long as I can remember, they are standard in the summer.

I wish Ugg boots would just go away lol, sorry but wearing them with sweatpants, short skirts, etc in the middle of a snow storm is so over in my eyes! :yuk: I also wish those furry boots, shoes, etc would just move on and give those animals back their hair or just leave the fair hair alone. I just wish everyone wouldn't think they live deep in the mountains when it's really only Brooklyn. :innocent:

Low rise jeans paired with a high rise thong. Singers/actresses/models/dancers/producers/creative directors/designers, all in one. Deconstruction, Paris Hilton Wannabes...actually any celebrity wannabe. Burrbarry (spelt like that on purpose...it's the krab meat of fashion.) Ripped jeans, excessively low carb diets, unneccessary athletica wear, (lulu lemon, juicy) and cheap looking metallics.

I am sick of people caring so much about what's IN that they have no idea what they actually like or what looks good on them.

I am sick of anything remotely 'indie' (I know, it doesn't really exist anymore) being appropriated by expensive wannabe clothing lines, catering to the Ashlees of the world.

Too much of anything. Girls looking like whores. Little girls in anything sl*tty (damn that Britney), and the denigration of designer/vintage by the likes of the Olsen twins.

Also: plastic sugery, bad tans, AND WHEN THE HELL WILL THEY LET CAMO GO???

yah, im not loving that gwen decided to use camo in her line either...

"I am very tired of the Jessica Simpson look-a-like attempts all the way from the Juicy's to the ponchos to the poorly done blond highlights that everyone seems to have. "

i couldn't agree more. ponchos make me think of dumb rich white trash blondes thanks to her and everyone wants to knit their own :P yuck! cropped jeans, like clamdiggers, look like you shop at walmart no matter who wears em, fat tacky highlights bug the crud out of me and jeans with the distressed fading on the *** that makes it look like you sat on a toilet seat covered in baby powder. anything britney spears wears and you can just package paris hilton with her dvd and call it a tacky boxed set!!!

I agree with everything you said.

I'm also tired of the overly matching your outfit trend. "If I'm wearing a blue shirt, I must have blue shoes, a blue watch and a blue purse to go with it" Ick.

Poor little rich girls all mixed up and no place to ho.
People with no sense of proportion
People with no sense of self
People who use accessories in lieu of a personality

The whole mish-mash, wear whatever together, lay it on like an early Madonna wannabe - it dates itself really quickly.

Time to clean the slate and start with something strong, simple, pure, international (Asia, Africa, the Middle East are good influences) and future leaning while borrowing from the ages (I like certain sci-fi ensembles that manage to have authority with out looking kitchsy, ie Star Wars, certain Star Trek planets as a new direction - a lot of their design elements harken back to medievel times)

Some bold and pulled together please. Enough rummaging through auntie's closet.
