The belted things. I want to slap every occurance I see of the long shirt/belt over it because it just makes the stomach look really long. I can understand why it would be done because it might be a tight shirt and someone may not have the body for it, but it just looks tacky.

I thankfully do not see pants tucked into boots at my store, although Uggs? Please die. Thank you.

I'm sick of the silhouette of loose on top and tight on bottom- it's really difficult to pull of for most women- it only suits girls with delicate bone structures and no hips

FYI, they have leopard print ballet flats avaIlable in orange / black, and grey / black and of course black and white at Target. Might look cute with footless tights or leggings but dont match leopard flats with lepoard leggings unless you want that kind of look

Skull scarves, skull shirts, anything with skulls. Leave it for the bikers and the guys tattooed with it who are trying to be hard.

Not, thankfully, seen leapard flats and leggings together yet :D

I'm actually guilty of the skinny jeans tucked into boots trend. Today, in fact, I wore my (blue) skinny jeans with my black suede slouch boots, half way up my calf. As well as, incidentally for those who hate this trend, a baby doll black dress with pink flowers that reached to just below my crotch and also a black cardie partially buttoned up in the middle. :p

Red Carpet wear - I dread what we may expect for the Oscars tomorrow night. And on the other side of the spectrum, blue jeans with fake holes, frayed edges, and dye jobs to make the denim look "aged".

The Oscars are going to be amazing aren't they? I love watching them to seperate those with actual style to those who have 'been styled'. I know most have dressers working with/at them but I LOVE when I see the individual quirks coming into being. Whether they're what I like or not, I still appreciate that they've said '' sod off'' to whoever was trying to dominate their look.:D

i don't like peep toe flats either. i'm a sucker for peep toe wedges though... it's pretty much the only type of sandal i buy. 4" black peep toe wedges.

Well said! :flower:

* scull anything
* roomy tops with wide belts and leggins
* jean shorts with black opaque tights

Hmm, I'm so sick of red carpet wear as well! Now everyone has a stylist so they look so fake and watered down. Everyone wears the same looking dress, with the same hair. I miss the days of crazy stars dressing like their crazy selves! Now everyone looks like Rachel Zoe or some other boring stylist.

A few people like Cate Blanchett though manage to really dress like themselves and look completely stylish.

Amen sister! That's all I see from the TAM girls at Mizzou  You'd think, maybe I'm being naive, that girls majoring in Textile & Apparel Management would have more style and be more creative. But then at the same time I know a bunch of them are in the dept. because they think they're going to get some gloified job as a high end designers assistant or working in a fashion house. So who knows if they have any real style when all they do is copy the looks of everyone else and shop at the exact same boutiques in-town.

^^ Ditto. The dresses are always same, everyone looks overdone, everyone wears the hottest designer of the season... I don't know why people even bother to watch award shows or galas anymore.

Sweat pants tucked sloppily into Uggs. To make it worse, it's usually, like, grey coloured sweats with tan coloured Uggs.

The thing about skulls and such... I think that is in an effort to try to mainstream the Punk/Goth style of fashion. I am NOT a rock junkie. I'm not even a serious fan of rock music... of almost ANY kind. Somehow, it's skulls and Vans sneakers appealing to some of the casual people. Because let's face it- Jennifer Lopez had on a beautiful dress at the Oscars last night, but would you ever see a fashion icon like J-Lo, Kate Moss, or anyone like that adorning themselves in skulls and such? Let's face it. (Generalization) Everyone loves rock music. I'm not seriously offended with Vans sneakers. My thing is basically this rock fanatic stuff. This is at least better than the country Western stuff of last year and the year before. But still, nothing stylish about these skulls and stuff. I think most Goth types don't even care if they look like gems strutting their stuff at runways like in Milan or Paris or wherever. Sorry. Just not a rock person. If anything, I'm more in the realm of electronica (techno, dance, trance, rave, etc.). I wouldn't dress up myself in the electronica sense, but at least there's something to like besides rock or rock influences.

Now back to tucking pants/jeans into boots. Here are some functional examples:
fishing boots - http://www.fishreports.net/fishing-gear/fishing-boot.php
jockey boots - http://www.winhoss.com/boots.htm

Both of these serve functional purposes and are the only ones allowed to wear boots with pants tucked in. If not used in horrid ground conditions or on super-cold days, the look actually becomes just as dumb as leggings under skirts. The two links are more of functional usages of pants into boots. NOT this: < http://lasfashionistas.blogspot.com/2005/10/burning-question-should-we-tuck-our.html >.

Some say that tucking skinny jeans into boots provides a slimming effect. Slimming at the expense of looking overdressed. Part of the reason girls got those skinny jeans was to have dumb '80s-inspired looks or to comfortably tuck jeans into boots. There are plenty of alternatives. One can always wear cropped pants, gaucho pants, skirts, shorts... so many other options than the skinny jean and those knee-high boots. I never understood the jeans-tucked-into-boots thing outside of functional use. I try to be functional if I can. For example, I had my cargo jeans (before I could no longer fit into them). I tended to use the extra cargo pockets to carry stuff. I think I even carried my old TI-83 calculator once in the lower pockets. Reason why I disliked certain trends was because of how unfashionable certain function-focused styles go. Flood pants (also called "highwater pants") are perfectly fine because almost any style of shoe or sandal works best. But regular jeans tucked into boots for when it is not extremely cold or extremely messy to walk... there's a problem. It's no double standard. Some things work much better than others.

Huge bug-eyed '70s-style sunglasses, like so:

I like sunglasses slightly oversized myself (in the style of Jackie Onassis) but these are just ridiculous. Tired, tired, tired.
