I was wondering if doing the opposite will look just as good? Like the top half hair being lighter than the bottom? cause I have naturally dark hair but I dyed it black a few months ago and know that the black wont come out unless i bleach it, which i dont want to do! so Im thinking once my hair grows out a lil longer I can dye it a few shades lighter and leave the bottom half black and the top half lighter? or would that look ugly? hmmm

Ahh so funny that I've found this thread... My hair looks like this kinda similar to shenae grimes (well everyone seems to compare me to her lately so i guess she's the best example) and because of Lily Aldridge and Rachel Bilson I always figured it didn't look so bad, but last time I went for a trim the hairdresser wouldnt stop making digs about my roots, so since then (Jan) I've felt the need to dye all my hair begrudingly darker just so my roots match - I actually want a fresh set of highlights but don't wanna bleach my hair out a lot until its grown more...
Maybe I'll post pictures for some verdicts, though I was going to dye my hair tomorrow!

I personally like it, so I can't say I agree with the hair dresser but to each their own.

no, no! do not try this look the opposite way. you will look like you're balding.

Found a pic of the two-tone hair I sported about 2 years ago. I had some blonde highlights put in several months prior and just didn't care about my hair for a long while. This is what it looked like.

i have two-tone hair right now . . . kind of a random decision but my friend works @ toni & guy and said she'd hook up a free hair service..
so my hair is its normal brown/black and underneath (like from my ears to my neck) is bleached platinum . . i was going to leave it but then i decided to let her tint it bright pink. it acutally looks really good and in the sun it's really vibrant. i would usually find this style tacky or whatnot but you can hardly tell its a different color unless its up. and hey, it was free!! haha no complaints. lots of compliments.

This looks so good on other people but I don't think I could pull it off. I would just feel unkempt; like my roots were showing or something.

I would really appreaciate if someone could recommend a salon in London that does good natural looking balyage...I'm desperate!
