This magazine has been phoning it in for a while now, so I'm not surprised it looks no different now that they have to literally phone in to get the issue done.

I wonder how much you get paid to organise a bunch of reprints and commission a few writers for their opinions.

^LOL. The finished cover looks so dated! There were loads of other options could've gone with.
It's a shame that Farrah took on this job when the magazine is close to shutting down and with no budget to make big changes because she managed to stamp her signature on Cosmo.

It's a pretty cover, even with the baggy outfit. I love the soft sunlight.

I wonder if it was a last-minute decision, to use a black model who somewhat unknown and show support? I expect an increase in featuring black models on the covers in the period ahead of us.

Clearly money troubles, which says it all when you look at Harper's still running 18 page original editorials and they are from the same stable. I doubt whether Anne-Marie's Elle sold well, Lorraine's Elle did, oddly enough.
Just shut it down already. Consumers don't deserve a subpar product filled with reprints.

It feels like they're just churning out a print product in order to keep the brand name alive in order to use it for event marketing.

Listened to a podcast interview with her some time back, the Elle gig was her dream job. When the offer came she took it immediately. I suppose this will just be like one of those instances in life where you've misjudge a situation.
As for Hearst, they probably hired her solely based on her solid track record at Cosmo and hoped she would turn this magazine around. But she can't work her magic if there are no resources to experiment with. And I don't think she's got the same HF advertiser contacts of a hardcore fashion editor like, say Edward. Justine didn't either, but her magazine was sought which opened the floodgates to advertisers.

Appart this Elle lost so much of its own spirit... and that's sad So many magazine which looks the same now...

I have ZERO issue with a magazine reprinting content given the current situation, but couldn’t we of got Imaan Hammam by Chris Colls from American ELLE’s May edition? Ugh.

This cover is by no means offensive. It oozes that quintessential Elle aesthetic, can appreciate the beach setting during this lockdown period, love the white Louis Vuitton dress and it’s nice to see some diversity on the cover of British Elle.

Perhaps either of those profile shots would’ve made for more arresting covers? Easily for a better subscriber cover, without a shadow of a doubt.
