I picked up a copy from the shop today - all three covers were evenly available. I bought the white one; I liked the clean skin look of it.
As ever, the magazine is printed on that thicker, textured paper, and the chaotic, scrapbook-style art direction inside remains the same as previous issues. 190 pgs.
The ads are mostly perfume and jewellery.
PRETTY, POWERFUL is a 4 pg look at catwalk beauty. "Patriarchal beauty stereotypes are being reclaimed, reworked and restyled this season with a fiercely feminist agenda". If you say so.
There's an article about call-out culture, for those who haven't already reached burn-out from hearing about the world of fashion and beauty influencers.
There's a lengthy feature about pubic hair, an interview with Queer Eye's Antoni Porowski (unconnected to pubic hair), an article about not being a perfectionist, an interview with Charlie Hill about her transgender journey, and a look at sex-related plastic usage (condoms, sex toys etc). The Victoria Beckham feature is 8 pgs long.
MAKE IT RAINBOW is a 6 pg beauty editorial featuring prismatic highlighters on the skin of model Ajak Deng, shot by Jamie Nelson.
GOTHIC GIRL is an 8 pg fashion/beauty editorial featuring Florence Pugh in grunge-inspired looks, shot by Simon Emmett, styled by Camilla Kay.
BRAVE (RE)NEW WORLD is a 12 pg fashion editorial about upcycled and recycled clothing, with model Joony Kim, shot by Andreas Ortner, styled by Alexandra Fullerton.
WE'RE SO HAIR FOR IT is a 10 pg portfolio of people with different types of face/body hair, shot by Anna Daki.
Then it's back to articles about sustainable perfumes, vampire beauty (blood used in beauty treatments), an interview with Zendaya, the cult of whitewashed wellness, and then it's the usual magazine waffle at the back about holidays.
I don't ever mind buying the printed ghost of UK Glamour, because it only costs £2 and comes out twice a year. However, it's very juvenile, which makes me wonder about Victoria Beckham on the cover, because her product lines are hardly made of the stuff teens dream about. It speaks to ME, but maybe not to someone waiting for their student loan to arrive on Monday, who won't be in the market for spending £48 on a smoky eye compact.
