It's almost too delicate and spring-y for me, especially after Karen Elson's cover just gone which was flower orientated. But there's no denying it's a very nice shot of Carey on the newsstand cover, though. Great newsstand cover overall to be honest. My scan doesn't do the subscribers cover justice, I must admit. The V&A cover is beautiful, very vintage and very fitting for Erin wearing couture. Justine explains in her editor's letter that the limited edition covers are doing extremely well, so I expect a few more to be in the works.
After having a thorough look through the issue today, I'm not terribly enthusiastic over the contents. This particular issue seems to be stale. From the two fashion stories inside, Erin O'Connor's is the most desirable but we've seen this type of shoot about 5 times now since Justine Picardie took the helm.
How does everyone feel towards Justine Picardie as editor? I have nothing against her, she's clearly an intelligent women who knows what reader she wants to attract. Although I suspect she's wanting rid of anyone who read Lucy Yeoman's Bazaar. The magazine now, doesn't feel as though it's for that sophisticated, dark and mysterious woman. I mean it's still a very sophisticated book but it is drastically different to how it was this time last year. There's a vast amount of focus on articles and less focus on fashion stories - even fashion contents. It's starting to feel like more of a high-society magazine than an actual fashion magazine, these days. I don't know of anyone featured in the articles Justine Picardie is commissioning. Maybe that's a good thing because I'll learn about different figures.. but I'm still after fashion contents from a fashion magazine.
