US Vogue December 2008 : Jennifer Aniston by Craig McDean

Luxx, what an excellent post  :flower:

When Gwyneth Paltrow was told at a press conference that Brad was seeing Jennifer after their engagement had ended, first she acted like she didn't know who she was and then she said..."Oh, that TV girl..."

She didn't dig Angelina as much, because really...how could she? It's true though, girl sh*t is the best sh*t...LOL

^^ And now that comment made my day  "TV girl"...priceless. Poor Jenny. I don't dislike her but seriously, living well is the best revenge, less talk (Oprah :yuk:), more action.

^I think Gwyneth probably didn't dig into Angelina as much b/c by the time Brad was with Ang. their relationship was well over and she was having a family of her own.
Gwyneth would have looked pathetic had she still been taking jabs at Brad's gfs.

Well for someone that dosent "dislike" her you sure seem to be getting a kick out of hating on her judging from this thread alone.

What is wrong with her being a TV actress? She was part of a cult comedy show and was one of the best paied actresses in the history along with her co-stars, and has won Emmys and Golden Globes for her portrayal of Rachel. So that comment dosent say anything esle but how ignorant Paltrow is, if she did say that.

So what is wrong with what she said on Oprah? Its part of her job to promote her movie and its a given Oprah would ask about this Vogue interview, she did not spend an entire hour tallking about Brangelina.

Some comments here are just very petty, this thread has turned into a gossip blog level of maturity. Can we stop with the bashing of Aniston?

And i hope that editoral rumor with my man Jon Hamm is true, and we can get a review and previews from this issue so, maybe just maybe we all can tallk about other things.

OMG! Why were some of you so mean? Did Jennifer Aniston do anything to you? I just hope one day your boy friends or husbands won't be taken away by other women, who say they are free to take because their relationships have problems.

The Dec issue will be on newstands on 11/18.

Apparently, Vogue is already available in some areas, like Hollywood and Los Angeles.

Totally agree with you. Angelina had no right to take Brad away from Jennifer and I bet that hurt like hell.
Fact is, neither Angelina or Jennifer are truly accomplished actresses and they need their promotion in other ways: Angelina pretending to be all goody-goody with her charity and Jennifer with her endless interviews about Brad. But the problem with Jennifer is that maybe that's all she get's asked about. I just don't know, but I think she would be better off to move on with life.

Here's the thing people beat up on Angie...thats not all that fair either. Yet she doesn't seem to cry about it. The point is she wasn't married to Jen. How can you take/steal/lead astray something/someone that doesn't already want to leave?! It all lies with Brad.

Basically, I believe that Jen and Brad's marriage wasn't working out at that point and the distance made it worse. I personally think that perhaps if Angelina wasn't in the picture, their marriage may have lasted longer.

However, at that point Brad met another woman that seemed to understand him better and I think that factor just pushed the two of them further apart.

Just my two cents. I don't think it's anyone's fault.

Angelina is an Academy Award winner (And long before she met Brad), and Jennifer is an Emmy winner with multiple nominations despite a somewhat more lackluster film career  Some may say those awards really doesn't amount to too much, but it does at least show they've both accomplished a great deal in their field...Both of them are perfectly capable of carrying the weight of big-budget films, so I really don't think either of them need more drama to pad their resume ;)

But to get back on topic in terms of the magazine - it is indeed available in NYC and LA today, I believe! ^_^

Well, I guess you're right about the awards. Surely they must have done something in their lives apart from Brad but I just don't see them as truly gifted actresses and to tell you the truth I just wish all this nonsense of Jennifer and Brangelina stopped for good! It would do both parties good and it would be great for people who just admire them for who they are and what they do.

Well, most of my critiques have solely been about how she's managed her image in the Hollywood with the stock she has and the only "nice" things I've said about Paltrow and Angelina have been comparatively positive evaluation of their Hollywood stock in comparison. (If it came off more personal than that, my mistake.) These people's lives are like a story to me because it plays out in such an artificial medium. You complain that this thread is "gossip level" but, well, that's what it is to me -- I don't look to Vogue (or any of the major fashion magazines) for anything more than interviews taken to show individuals at their best with a PR person in the wings making sure the star doesn't screw themselves (usually).

I am something of a film snob so maybe that's why I took (a mean but hardly evil and condemning) delight in Gwyneth's comment. For all the cred TV has gained -- it's certainly become more acceptable for film stars to crossover into it and vice versa because of the quality projects -- it's still TV. In award rankings Emmys are only above those daytime soap awards and for all the hype about the Golden Globes (that was largely built on its supposed high predicition odds for the Academy Awards) it's still kinda made fun of. Actors (of a certain stature) long for Oscars not Golden Globes (except in so far the latter might lead to the former). It's said the Academy Awards moved its date further away from Golden Globes partly to kill all that hype. (Yes, Hollywood *is* petty.)

So I completely get where Gwynnie is coming from -- especially since back then TV wasn't as highly regarded as it these days, in comparison (because of shows like The Wire, Sopranos, Mad Men etc). They're still different leagues with film above television and the gap was even more marked back then. (Let's not even compare the quality of their projects, regardless of whether you consider Paltrow a good actress or not. Also Paltrow is (reportedly) just a snob, period .) Edit: I'm not saying it's fair and there are probably a host of people who would take a single Friends episode over Paltrow's entire film career including Oscar.

I didn't say anything was wrong about what she said on Oprah...that's just me sticking out my tongue at Oprah (the tv show, not the woman) and the, no doubt, inevitable circling around the Breakup That Won't Die. At the end of the day, I stand by my opinion that Jennifer Aniston has done nothing to kill the media's obsession with her and Brad and feeds it by consistently making public statements or overt public outings about her intimate relationships when it's obvious to anyone that for some time they will be evaluated in the shadow of BradJelina. It's a fair enough strategy since Friends is old, she's had no major film in the past that's big enough to use and she has every right to. But as long as she keeps on dropping the juicy quotes that journalists can lift out of context and plaster on covers, then I will continue to roll my eyes, ask what the heck is wrong with her PR/agent, and treat it as gossip fodder. *shrugs*

(For comparison look at Johansson & Reynolds who eloped with no wedding pictures reaching the media (as yet that I know about) and at their first public event they arrive separately. There is a girl who knows how to manage her image as much as she is able while using what is out there to her advantage. And is the girl even 25 yet?)

Bahiyya that is very well explained, all points well made, but especially your statement that Hollywood is petty.I dont belive in dissing one person in order to praise another, comparing ones statuse's to belittle others achivements.etc like it has been done in this thread, because like you and Harumi said, eventually they are all pretty much the same, they want publicity in order to sell their movies, products.etc

To me the most shocking thing about this is the fact that Vogue has put that tagline on the cover because its misleading (leads one to belive she actually tallked about the divorce and why it came to be)instead she commented on Jolies statement and refered to her as "she", its a very vulgar thing to do, surely we can agree about that?

Yes, the interest for me lies in how the media and the participants create and perpetuate the story, because it's like a huge unofficial soap opera being played out via magazines and newspapers, for our entertainment (and ultimately their benefit, because it never hurts to have your name everywhere). Brangelina is a study in the creation of a media megabrand. Jennifer Aniston is an example of... how your profile can go awry.

My issue is that Jen and Angelina need to say how they really feel! Saying "uncool" was just lame...she should've went for it.
