US Vogue February 2011 : Kristen Stewart by Mario Testino

I'm not sure "the loyal audience" makes a difference nowadays, i feel less and less people are loyal to a magazine, the habits of the consumers have deeply changed in the last decade. Vogue US obviously want to get its readership younger, and it makes sense : correct me if i'm wrong, but i think Teen Vogue sell more than the grown-up version. Young people tend to be more enthusiastic about their idol, and buy more. On the other side, they can get tired very quickly, so i think to sell a magazine nowadays is a battle that has to be lead month after month, nothing is for granted anymore.

Loyal isn't necessarily demanding. This is the same audience that refer to their magazine as 'the bible'. They'll buy it no matter what, they might even start to sympathize with Kristen because hey, she must be on the cover of Vogue for a reason . It's not the 1950s anymore, guys.. a lot of people buy Vogue for the trends or the look of the month or because someone said you had to buy it in order to be up to date with fashion.. man, I buy it just for the ads and not even Sarah Jessica Parker's face can stop me.

I keep buying it because it remains one of the few magazines with decent length articles by good writers, plus it was one of the last places you saw work by Irving Penn. Also, I've been buying it for 13 years and it's practically a habit.

I'm bored by magazines that only have glossy images, doing that fierce/sexy/edgy/hypersaturated thing. American Vogue adds some diversity to the mix. I usually ignore the super-Photoshopped cover stars (Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker etc) unless I actually like them (Cate Blanchett, always a goddess, Rachel Weisz).

That said, I couldn't suppress a groan when I saw Kristen Stewart? I thought Blake Lively was enough. I'll get over it I suppose.

Also, people rage on about US Vogue not using models on their covers, but I like how they properly spotlight new models by actually interviewing them and shooting these beautiful portraits, like Iris Strubergger, Daria Werbowy, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls. They're doing something to actually at least get people interested in the models themselves.

Vogue did such a great job on her. I have never seen Kristen looks this beautiful before.
shes lovely in the video. "I just shot a cover of Vogue, it sounds weird to say that" haha

Hello Photoshop in the first photo... I do love the photo with Proenza Schouler however. Nice shot, and the third from last shot is actually a really beautiful shot too. She just needs to shut her mouth a bit more I think personally.

Sometimes Kristen reminds me of Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver, but most of the other times, She looks like a teenage boy ,just as her appearance in the Panic Room

i really would've loved this piece on Proenza featuring KStew; eccentric brand meets idiosyncratic actress, what a perfect match.

sadly i can only LMAO with the incredible photoshopping

Got to swallow my tongue and admit that Kristen does look very nice in her editorial. The awkwardness is still there but she looks very fresh and beautiful, which is to say a lot since I'm definitely not a fan of hers or her acting (dis)abilities.

She looks so akward in all pictures and not as beautiful as she is on real life! She definetly doesn't photograph well.-

Those pictures are really awkward. She has the exact same expression in all of them, and apparently is incapable of closing her mouth.

Arizona's ed look promising, she look like Natalia V.
