from wwd...

Jennifer Hudson is clearly the woman of the hour. After securing an Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award for best supporting actress for her role in "Dreamgirls," the "American Idol" runner-up has landed the March Power cover of Vogue. Hudson was photographed by Annie Leibovitz at the Apollo Theater as part of a seven-page photo essay inside, but the chances of one of those photos ending up on the cover were high even before Hudson won a Globe late last month. But, presumably, her win helped seal the deal. Vogue has featured only two African-Americans on its cover since December 2002 — Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry and model Liya Kebede.

OMG i just read this, god let it be true! :bounce: But i will belive it when i see it!^_^

just because Liya is black, she's not an African-American.
She's born in Ethiopia and married to an Ethiopian.

it wouldn't be sharapova...
she was just on the cover of teen vogue...

if it said in wwd that the cover is jennifer hudson, it's definitely true...

Finally, a full-figured and black woman on the cover of Vogue! Good job Anna.

Yes,thank god finaly but like i said i want to see it first and if Anna really gave her the cover then it should be celebrated;we all know why!:innocent:

WOW! A plus-sized African-American woman on the cover of Vogue. I think Anna must have had a stroke because that hardly ever happens.

I can't wait to see the cover! :buzz:

Oprah doesn't count?

Let's hope they don't airbrush the crap out of it to make her look like a lollipop.

Well maybe but it was 10(almost years ago) and they DID make her look like a lollipop!:ninja: :innocent:
But hey huurah for this and all of these people that are surprised that this actually happend, shows how sad situation this really is.We are living in 2007 and seeing woman of colour on the cover of Vogue leaves people in shock, now that should say something about US Vogue and its editors!

I believe Oprah was on the cover of Vogue when her movie Beloved was released. But Anna made Oprah lose about 30 lbs before she she got the cover. I wonder if J Hud had to do that as well...

^ I don't know but Anna made her drop down to 150 lbs before she would allow her to set for the shoot.

She said the idea of being on the cover of Vogue was "fascinating" especially after spending her youth being called "coloured", "ugly" and "buckwheat".
"If you want to be on the cover of Vogue and Anna Wintour says you have to be down top 150lbs - that's what you gotta do. "I didn't think for one moment 'Now I am going to be a Vogue model' nor even did I think I could hold that weight."

God that makes me just so sad!:(
Woman like Oprah, intelligent, powerful.etc agrees to go through such humiliation(someone giving you an ultimatum to get the cover,is humiliating in my books)but i can see why she did it!
