US Vogue October 2007 : Charlize Theron by Mario Testino

Charlize's ed looks like a Ralph Lauren ed, but she still makes the best of it and looks amazing. :flower:

simplicity has always been the key word for the Vogue Us covers, don't expect to see a super pretentious haute couture pic on the cover, it's Vogue US, not Vogue Italia. ^_^

hm, you mean like this or this or this? :innocent:

anywoo...i agree with iluvjeisa...
the index has been the most interesting part of vogue the last few issues...
charlize's ed isn't bad, but they've done the "home on the range" thing before...the cover actually reminds me of jennifer connelly's from 04...

i like sasha's shots in "sexy beasts" much more than caroline's...
i mean sasha only has 2 pages, but she's seriously working them...

and i really like the couture ed...
yes, the hair is crazy, but so is the room...
it all seems to work together...

^^YES!The cover is reminescent of the one Jennifer was on,i imidetly thought of that one when i saw it,glad someone else brought it up. :D

But ya i dont find Us Vogue boring otherwise,i think its consistant and to some people that is boring, but i love it for all the great articles and beautiful edits.I think people have to take it for what it is and stop trying to make it into something that its not.Vogue Italia and other editions have completly different target audience therefore can be more playful and daring.I always buy US Vogue no matter who is on the cover.

just to clarify about how much the girls get paid for editorials in US Vogue... the standard day rate is around $200.

^yeah i've heard....
honestly that's not much... except if you're going to Morocoo to shoot.... and the shooting longs 2days...

Just 200$ for a days work? Is that including the cut the agency takes?

It would be excluding, I believe. There's a whole thread somewhere on what models get paid, but editorial work benefits them because they can add it to their portfolios, so they don't get paid much for it. Some campaigns and especially catalogs pay really well, though.

Alright, lets see what else is inside this issue! :woot:

I was talking about simplicity in terms of photography, not about haute couture dresses :innocent::innocent: those links that you posted exemplifies to perfection what simplicity means.

these are examples of what I call pretentious haute couture pics

^ those would never be US Vogue covers, the average american consumer don't get that kind of pics, that's why I wrote that simplicity is the key word if we are talking about US Vogue. :flower:

^ UGH!

I think US Vogue & Italian Vogue have two very different aesthetics, I'd like to keep it that way- in that sense I agree with you.

But why defend bad model casting? & Seriously, there is no defense for the bad studio editorials with models jumping EVERY issue, no one likes that.

sales these days seem to come mostly from it's name and prestige...

wrong, In the mainstream editorial world that theory doesn't work, they have to think over and over again how to sell a magazine, it's not that easy, Anna knows how to do it and that's why se rules over any other editor in chief that anybody can name. B)^_^

Why the hell are we starting this stuff again?! Always a frickin' debate! Every single frickin' time! I swear to frickin' God, I am going to go crazy!!

Charlize looks kind of plastic on the cover. And it's so "going to Greenwich this summer." Ugh, I can't stand it.:yuk: and what would a Us Vogue be without Caroline?:o I don't think I could take it if she wasn't in an issue. Please......

there were only like 2 non celebrety covers of US vogue this yea 0_0, im really not feelint the whole Charlize Theron thing in this issue =(

Joseph26, why must you always start an argument? :innocent:

Anyway, Charlize looks gorgeous. But I do agree, it's all quite boring. It's just become such a disappointment. I really wish that Anna would do something new and exciting.
