US Vogue October 2009 : Michelle Williams by Mario Testino

I wrote in once to complain about something, and they printed the letter. I figured that there was less chance of them disregarding my words if I said I was American. I was writing from Beverley Hills, to be precise - a place I've only ever seen on TV - when I was really sitting in my kitchen in Ireland, penning 40 words of truthful opinion under the guise of a fictional identity.

I love the letters page.

 That is priceless!!!

 That's great, I love it.

I think it's good they do have a letter's page. UK Vogue doesn't have one does it? Actually come to think of it, I can't think of many British editions of magazines that do print letters.

I wrote a letter to UK Vogue, and Alexandra Shulman wrote back - she took the time to reply personally in a letter through the post - and she also replied to a Spanish friend, so it wasn't just her British readers that she responded to.

I once got a letter printed in Harper's Bazaar, but I didn't go under any alternate identity that time.

I like the way I spelled Beverly Hills wrong in my post above, I'm guessing I didn't do that in my email to US Vogue, or else I might have been rumbled as an imposter of an American woman.

Ahhh it was an e-mail? Nicely done.

I was wondering how you'd faked the US post mark. I had all sorts of ideas about elaborate potato printing.

Oh, I've done that before on a letter and it convinced the person, but that's a whole other story.

When writing to editors, I think a respectful piece of feedback (criticism or praise) will probably get read, and who knows what response anyone may get in return?

It's nice to see Michelle on the cover but it's not nice to see the cover.
The editorial along with it is much better-is she promoting Shutter Island?

^yeah right 'cause what kind of editor will publish a feedback from the readers that isn't worth publishing and that has a non-sense feeling in it? i always think of writing a letter to US Vogue but every time i'm in front of an electronic white blank paper (MS Word) to make a draft of my letter, i couldn't properly think of what i am going to write. :D

^ Same here! Is this out in Asia?

If Vogue is going to re-use the same girls over and over at least find stunning models with memorable, enviable faces.I used to want to look like the supermodels in magazines. Now I think why would I want to look like Caroline, Karlie or Sasha? I'm sick of weird or blank-slate models. Get some really stunners for a change!

The images are beautiful. The story is very good ...

But is that something they shot in 2009 ?
I mean Monfils in a 2CV makes NO sense, at all, to me.
And all the styling screams NewLook.

I re-love Vogue US for seasons now - coz I've learned to re-appareciate Wintour's mind. But I just hate wen they go soooooo clichés everytime they shot out of a studio and out of USA ....

While you think they represent youth and diversity. They found a 2CV ?
I love the 2CV, but that's not what we drive in France for about ....... 30-40yrs ....... Except when you go onto the beach with your grandpa' - that's what i did when i was a kid on vacation at my grand parents' beach-house ...

But in a whole this story is like a Proustian Madeleine ......
^_^

Why are you guys complaining about karlie? I think shes a great model. She brings something different, I mean for example you guys have seen Natalia with stunning and almost perfect face, but karlie brings a different kind of beauty which is great.

I would never get tired of karlie, I would love to see more work from her in us vogue.
