US Vogue September 2025 : Emma Stone by Jamie Hawkesworth

It’s not so much about the magazine than the impact of the editor. I don’t think that the aura of US Vogue on the Mass is that important but the stamp of approval of Anna Wintour still matters to a generation.
Bazaar is a nice title, nothing more nothing less. My friends in the industry have the same response to Bazaar than they had to Vogue Paris under Emmanuelle.
Vision and identity is not the issue. Vogue US under Wintour has a vision and identity too. But it’s basic because it’s the same people doing the same thing and even when working with new talents, doing the same tricks.., For an aesthetic that has been diluted for being used so much.
What Bazaar lacks is the aura of an editor. I know some people in Paris who cares more about Brune de Margerie (from ELLE) than Olivier Lalanne…Even if he is a charming gentleman.
If the appeal of Bazaar France is the recreation of nostalgia, the French fashion scene is in danger.

Btw I think a lot should be done in the french magazines landscape. It’s so boring.
The only few good magazines are great because the articles are great. Is it great in terms of fashion content? Not so sure…
That part.

Could be the seller knew that was a screenshot commitment, not a subscription one. I’ll wait for the page count from someone who actually owns it. 173 is ridiculously low even in Vogue US's standards.

The photography is so bad... really an insult to the people who spent hundreds of hours making those outfits specifically for this shoot.

So either Anna didn’t understand the stories behind each look of Jamie was « a cote de la plaque ». Nicolas seems very strong about the vision of the looks. The jumpsuit is light because he was inspired by ballerinas and Jamie shoot her in that angle standing straight. Anna therefore choose that to be part of the ed.

For me the video makes the ed look more confusing. How NG can be inspired by the driver for Emma to be shot on the roof of a medieval castle?
Only innocence was portrayed in a accurate way.

I find the cover really quite lovely.

I think the version with more cover lines works best, it’s more balanced. Overall, it feels really fresh and light to me.

I like a couple of the editorial shots, the rest are a miss; the lighting is very pretty throughout though.

It’d be a shame if the page count is really that low because I’d like to pick this up. Hopefully there are some other nice things in the issue.

I do not enjoy the masculine styling on a women's fashion magazine. The hair looks like something out of the skateboard magazines my brother used to buy the in mid-90s, and the top looks like football shoulder pads. The pose finishes it off by removing any femininity whatsoever.

Emotionally, it is the same cover as:

it's literally the same cover

That part.
To who exactly? Half of the models she supposedly “launched” aka just put on the cover barely lasted two years in the industry. It’s fine to admit Anna Wintour simply doesn’t have the power she once did whether it’s anointing designers or models.

Is there actual confirmation that this is Anna’s last issue or is it all speculation?
We assume that this is Anna’s last September issue.
The question about her last issue all together is purely speculative. They have not named a replacement and issues are made in advance so I don’t know where that assumption comes from.

This isn’t technically her last issue, but it is definitely her last September issue.

The girls on the street are saying Chloe Malle could take over LOL, out of all people!

Isn't clear if it's her very last because the cover is a tribute to the first, but also doesn't feel like Anna's way to leave her ternure. Likely is not the goodbye letter. Compared to what Edward did, this doesn't feel like a huge celebration. Fold out or multiple covers, that something I would like to see. Again, as the last September cover talent Emma feels like a good choice.

Whatever we imagine her "last issue" might look like, we're probably not going to get it. We may never get it.

Some people refuse retrospectives of their work because it feels like it consigns them to the past, when they're very much so still here, still relevant and continuing to contribute to their industry.

We might glide into the era of a new "editor" without any fanfare or farewell, because it'll be business as usual, even if the face has changed.

But we have also not seen Wintour's letter in the September issue and if there is any mention of her leaving.

If the 173-page figure is true, that is kind of shocking to me, even in 2025. I wonder if that just means editorial pages (and is not counting advertising).

Don’t you think there would be other news sources discussing if this was her last issue or not regardless of her letter? We’d know before the issue was published.

To be honest, I really do not know. You might be right.

Anna only celebrated the 125th anniversary of Vogue, not even her 20th or 30th at the helm. It's a bit exciting to know how she end her ternure.

Some last issues I remember: Franca Sozzani's Polaroid issue with Madonna (tribute), Carine's with Saskia, British Group of models for Alex Schulman, Alt's Vogue Paris 1000th issue, and Edward 50 celebs/models shoot by Steven Meisel (I dislike the video recap on youtube with these women kissing Edward's boot...).
