I think some people here confuse vintage Valentino with vintage YSL. This is purely 70s YSL right here. No eyebrows, the colors, the pale skin... there could be an Opium bottle placed somewhere and this would be an YSL ad. As a matter of fact, Jerry Hall's Opium ad looked almost exactly like this including the color palette.

There is nothing Italian, or Valentino about these ads. Not one bit. It is strictly YSL... the lack of eyebrows is the obvious give-away.

that was my initial thought too. tho i thought it to be more like the YSL ads with Gemma, during Tom's time. just.... darker and less lush.

Seeing it in print, I like everything about it, apart from the use of Iris. In terms of the idea, I appreciate they've gone for someone who isn't a typical Valentino girl, but despite the rich colours and shadows, her face is too stern for me.

I like a woman with strong features, but here, I can't get past the sterility of the face, which drains the sensuality from the image. Well, sensuality isn't really the word, it's more the sense of being deep into the colours, and feeling the mystery in the shades... for me, the face puts a stop to that process.

I like them, but again, very YSL and very Paris.

I wish Pilati's ad campaigns looked like this instead of the catalog shots he delivers.

The new shots are much more effective than the first ones posted.....the colours really stand out against the darkness.
Iris has more or less the same expression in each photo but that it not really a criticism as she is just so strong.B) Plus the ads actually make some of the ghastly pieces in this collection look half decent.

I love this campaign! Why couldn't Mert&Marcus shoot something as edgy as this for Fachinetti's Valentino?! Instead, we were left bored by her Valentino campaigns!
