Seriously guys, there's no real reason to complain here. We have Meisel doing Versace with a lot of great models...
I don't understand the need to have all the originals in the campaign...Talk about taking the nostalgia too far...

We should be happy enough to know that the Weber era is done. Hopefully Meisel will do the next few campaigns and have a solid cast. This is a really solid cast.

This will always be the drawback when you book Meisel and it does annoy me. He'll refuse to work with those on his blacklist. His peers don't seem to have these dramatic hang-ups. Wasn't that the same reason why the Marc Jacobs campaign fell through?
One can tell Donatella may have wanted the runway group in the campaign, but he obviously refused. The most random for me in this group is Natalia Vodianova.
Anyway, I don't get his reasoning. No Claudia, but Gigi is fine? The latter is just about the milder, younger version of the former, so what gives?

I have to disagree with you there. I get the feeling that Kaia has a lot more respect in the industry than the Hadids & Kendall.

Only because of her mum, but for me her modelling skills, her presence are not above those of the Instagirls. Indeed it's on par. But she'll be build up regardless. DM are already running pap features on her, incidentally walking with more esteemed girls such as Yasmin Wijnaldum, yet they only acknowledge her.

I see the casting as the old and new Versace muses in a campaign. Of course, these clothes will sell on their own but the influence of Insta-models also make great impact. Donatella has been very open about Gigi, so obviously it's no surprise. I'm just glad there is no Bella, Taylor Hill nor Kendall in the group.

Are people really wondering why Gigi is part of the campaign? Gigi has been THE Donatella favorite for a while and has been part of the brand 3 out 4 past campaigns. She is also a Meisel favorite.

For me Kaia is the only questionable casting. I know its because of Cindy but she is much better fronting Miu Miu, Fendi and allow her to develop organically. She is not a Versace woman by any means. To be honest, none of the younger girls would be my choice for this campaign except Gigi. There are at least 5 other girls who are better suited for the brand.

Thanks to her other best friend Mario Testino. If newbie McNeil can get campaign just because he wanted her, then to push Vodianova was not a problem either

This is such a wonderful surprise, I enjoy most of the cast, I love Meisel and that shot of Gisele is glorious. I can't wait to see more.

Fabulous (just look at Gisele!), I'm incredibly thankful for the fact Donatella ditched Bruce Weber this season and went with Steven Meisel after the spectacular tribute show. This is indeed another wonderful tribute to Gianni, with a wonderful mix of models from past and present. I'm here for it, and cannot wait for more.

The images are good so far, but I feel like Meisel is really loathe to move out of a very specific studio mold this year (although I'm loving lots of his edits and ads more than recent years).

I'm not enthralled yet; the cast is also way too white, but I'm anticipating Cara, Grace and Birgit's apperances.

Sooo happy that Weber is outa here now; he just wasn't a good fit for Versace. The photos so far are great and I can't wait to see the rest! Also the cast is pretty sweet but I kinda wish Yasmin and Anna were involved too.

regarding irina, no one knows! but girls like daria, natasha and kate moss havent really worked with meisel for ages. there must be a reason behind that.

i dont see natalia as a versace girl at all but the girl is one of meisel's favorites same as raquel and christy. the man sure has lots of power when it comes to who he wants to work it.
