If he included all of his favorite + Donatella + Gianni this could have been the longest campaign ever.

I think this cast represent well the spirit of the collection.

We can all be very thankful at Christmas for a Meisel helmed Versace campaign. At least some things are right in the universe at this point. Also happy for Birgit btw.

I think someone has mentioned a while ago that the designers still have the final say in the final casting but photographers do have lots of influence also.


I'm sure Meisel is very influent when it comes to casting for campaigns and covers. using lexi boling as an example, he has shot her for countless campaigns and vogue italia covers. same goes with Raquel and sasha p, they both have lots of vogue italia covers and campaigns with meisel.

This is all a collaborative effort between the designer, the photographer, the stylist and the CD.
Meisel has the reputation for being a starmaker so maybe unlike some photographers, he will be more involved in the process. The thing is that he is very strategic about it. His casts are never really random and who ever decide to work with him generally has the same taste.

People talk about Meisel favorites but for me, he has quite a long list of favorites. He suggest and the designer can follow. Testino and M&M are a bit like that: They have that star power. But unlike Meisel, they are not stars-makers.

Demarchelier and others are really about following the clients vision. Meisel can really elevate the whole thing. We saw it with what he did for Versace, what he is doing at the moment for Loewe and even more, with what he did for Prada.

First of all I'm so happy Meisel is back shooting for Versace (even though it might be only for this season), glad they ditched Weber who was shooting messy campaigns.
Lol you guys, if they had had to add all model favorites from Donatella and Meisel the full cast would have been comprised of more than 50 women and girls...of course they had to cut someone out (even though no Linda or Amber sounds weird af).
Gigi and Irina are definitely misscast examples, I wonder if CR7 is still paying designers, photographers and casting directors to give her jobs.
LOL @ people still comparing Kaia to Gigi, Bella and Kendall and bringing out the whole nepotism thingie, you all sound like a broken record...just look at Kaia's legs and body and compare then with other high fashion models: this is exactly the reason why Kaia would have turned into a successful high fashion even if she had been a nobody. What about her Fendi SS18 opening? Gigi and Kendall COULD NEVER
SOO happy for Cara and Birgit!! The perfect cast for young girls would have been: Vittoria + Cara + Birgit + Faretta + Grace + Luna...HEAVEN!
I like the images so far but I wish there were more multi girl shots...I'm still waiting for something as iconic as the FW04 campaign

Kaia chosen over her mother is still a little weird to me, although I do like her. Cindy is THE Versace icon (and was star of the show) so its strange her daughter is booking the campaign over her.
