Two Flappers Dancing atop Chicago Hotel
The short skirts, bobbed hair, and kicking heels of flappers instantly bring to mind F. Scott Fitzgerald and the wild parties of the Jazz Age. Spirited young women of the 1920s adopted loose clothes - and some claimed loose morals - in defiance of their mothers' conventional lives. These two young women illustrate the era's penchant for both fun and recklessness by doing the charleston on a rooftop ledge at Chicago's Sherman Hotel.
