Vogue Italia July 2009 : Kristen McMenamy by Steven Meisel

omgosh, this issue is absolutely stunning!!! and sasha with her idol is pure love :D

the Sasha-Milla ed is really great!! I never thoght those two would make such a lovely combination...I am also slightly dissapointed by the supermodels editorial...not because of the pages I saw, but cause of the ones I expected to see and did not see;(( They could have used ALL supermodels and not just 4 of them...where are the rest??? Walking on the streets of London,Paris and New York and shot in the least glamourous way...well, still happy to see them, but they could have done a bit better....The Kristen editorial is the strongest and then the Milla-Sasha ed.
I did not take pics of the ADS,sorry...Edita is doing great for Blumarine...she reminds me a bit of Karen Mulder,so Toni Garrn is not the only one who could be the succesor of Karen Mulder...the other spectacular ad is of Anja Rubik for Guiseppe Zanotti(she is also in the Gucci ad, but it has been posted and seen already in her thread from other magazines). There are also a few backstage pages...Caroline Trentini and Mariacarla...and a few others that i do not know.
The issue is worth buying even only for the cover and editorial with Kristen!

I am in love with Meisels ed. It his best in months! The rest of the issue is good too. I even like Von Unwerths ed, and I can't remember the last time I really liked her work.

^ My point is that, he's a local or regular photographer of VOGUE Italia, and he's known as the SUPERMODEL Maker, so why the sudden change!?
Sudden change? You make it sound like something big happened, and that is obviously not the case at all. Sorrenti shoots for VI all the time so why shouldn't he shoot Naomi, Christy, Eva and Helena?

2.) The cover is a FOLD OUT COVER! The cover, without the fold-out, is plain GORGEOUS, but with the fold-out, she looks a bit lazy and awkward

Why I are you so shocked? Since the july issues of VI always have a fold out cover, why is it a suprise this cover is a fold out too?

^agreed. :)

i love the cover scanned in the first page. thanx!

The supermodel shots by Sorrenti are gorgeous. I quite like Mila & Sasha's editorial too.
Thanks for the snaps radolgc

Thank you very much rado, the last snaps you posted are gorgeous.

Strong issue. must buy

I haven't bought a Vogue Italia in years...and I think I'll pass on this one, even though I adore Kristen. I like several of the pics from her ed, but I hate the ones where she's wearing her hair down. Why on earth did she not keep her hair short, I'll never understand. She's one of the select few women in the world who look better with short hair than with long. But regardless, she looks absolutely fantastic considering that she's already in her 40s. She must take really good care of her skin. Several of the pics in her ed look almost like they were taken in the early 90s. I particularly LOVE the shot where she's wearing a hat and you only see one half of her face. It's so beautiful!

I don't understand what people here find so remarkable about the Sasha/Milla ed. The pics look like there were taken by a random person's digicam.

And is that Iris in the Valentino ads? I can't tell who it is.

I think this cover doens't do the editorial justice. The cover is okay but the ed is stunning. I would have preferred a b/w cover with a plain backround.

This issue have suplement collections f/w 2009/10 ???:)

Christy looks incredible in the Sorrenti ed. Wow!

Lord have mercy, Meisel finally served something amazing in the main ed and Kristen is so versatile, enough to make the ed better than it would be with another girl.

The others eds are cute, strong but pale in comparison :)

Kristin's edit is very impressive. She is incredibly versatile and really can pull off any look. Her face is so severe and strong that it almost gives me chills. And the styling is fantastic! I am so happy that the divine Fall 2009 McQueen collection was used extensively in this edit as it was one of my favorites of the season. The houndstooth is so fabulous and reminds me of Cruella de Vil! I also love the fishnet Jean Paul Gaultier trench and very 50's ladylike Lanvin pieces. The one headshot of Kristin in the McQueen hat reminds me of a 50's Irving Penn shot of Jean Patchett.

As for the rest of the features, the Milla and Sasha edit looks VERY much a kin to the Daria/Caroline edit that appeared in the recent issue of American Vogue, right down to the styling. It doesn't appeal to me much, even if I do love both Milla and Sasha and think they are both such strong models. Still, this is by far not their best work.

The 90's supermodel candid shots are nice. The funny thing to me is that most of them are wearing very similar outfits. Still, I like the feature and am sure that the article is very interesting.

All in all, this is a pretty good issue of VI. Kristen's edit is by far the best VI edit I have seen this year. The modeling, styling, and photography are superb and work so finely together. The issue is worth buying for that one edit alone.
