They really didn't take advantage of Peru, some shots are good but overall it isn't great when you have such a great landscape...also not sure Isabeli was the best choice, her face looks odd on the cover...
This issue is ok, the eds are perfect, i think the best ed is with Erin, because i'm glad to see her again on VP, how much was the last time than her appeared it.
I actually like this issue. It's such a relief from the boring '90s, 70's, black-white that VP has been doing lately. As much as I appreciate Carine Roitfeld I believe Emmanuelle shouldn't necessarily continue the line that her predecessor has 'carved'. Looking at these photos I think they tell the modern story of a wonderful culture, with a different view on life and an inherent rhythm. It's a true delight to look at the explosion of color in the pages. And yes maybe the cover is not the best choice.
This issue had so much potencial, Isabeli and Aymeline's and Kate's eds could've been so much better. The problem here is clear: there's just to much of Mario Testino
Gah.. Inca has got to be one of the most moronic editorials I have seen in a while, completely reducing a location to a cartoon, quite the contrast from the sets Patrick Demarchelier used to take back in the 90s, same stunning landscapes that are obviously difficult to accurately capture but he was more ambitious and went after their spirit, not physical vibrancy, Testino can be quite a shallow man sometimes.. he's definitely much better at portraits, the kind that are just meant to hit the eye, set it to black and white when you aim for "depth". Happy he photographed Juana Burga though, and that Juana Burga is featured here in the first place, she's such a pretty girl and definitely Peru's 'treasure'.
Indifferent to Kate's story, someone tried to get creative with the styling, but the cultural fusion still feels so clueless and phony.
I like the Nazca story, but maybe just because I'm easily sold with any desert story. I'd probably love it completely had the model been photoshopped out of it.
The shots in "Tempo d'Acier" with Emily DiDonato really stand out to me. I also quite some of Kate's shots. This definitely isn't VP's best, though. Most of it is quite messy.
