Vogue Paris August 2020 : Natalia Vodianova by Nathaniel Goldberg

It could have been better. However, considering the circumstances, it's still a decent cover.

The art direction leaves much to be desired. I've been slowly warming up to the new font, but this took me 3 steps back. I still can't believe they ditch the old one. That was pure perfection.

Emmanuelle Alt still is the best Vogue editor out there. Call her covers uninspired and dated, but one thing remains true - her Vogue rose above the pandemic. Sans the multiple double issues, Vogue Paris' content, albeit made during the lockdown, remains superior than that of her colleagues.

Too bad her face expression doesn't match the energy of the rest of the cover...

I like the minimalist styling and clean-ness of this cover, but sick to death of seeing Natalia. That 'mode' wording is too massive, and somewhat ironic considering you hardly see any fashion on this cover. Maybe this pandemic has toned down Alt's vintage obsession, lol. Not complaining. You've changed the direction, changed the photographers, now change the cast as well.

Also, is Nathaniel based in Paris? Can't imagine why he's all of a sudden in such demand.

I don’t love it as much as Mica by Nathaniel Goldberg but it’s nice to see an actual supermodel on a fashion magazine cover. Gives me hope for October’s 100th Anniversary cover.

Not bad. I love how Natalia is still getting A Listed jobs. I need to appreciate Emmanuelle Alt for not skipping a single month ( They only changed June/July issue into May/June) and giving us proper fashion content every time. I’m looking forward to cover story and editorials inside.

I wasn´t expecting something this fresh and I love it

Doesn't seem much different to the previous cover, and the blast of air has made the condition of her hair look awful, like it's frizzy and lank all at the same time.

I do wish her face expression was more energetic as well, but it's still a nice cover. It's a shame that there's a cheap CD logo visible though, as if people didn't already know the reason Natalia is suddenly on the cover.

I thought that was Laetitia Casta at first glance. I've never been a fan of Natalia but I like this cover as well as the minimal makeup. The CD belt inside the "D" lettering of "MODE" is a tad distracting though. I also wish the background were different than just being blank and white. Well, I don't find this cover to be anything exceptional but it works. I'm actually curious to see what the Jacquemus tshirt looks like!

It’s a fresh cover...Not that différent from the previous one (it’s blue and LVMH).
Nobody can say that LVMH did not support VP: LV and now Dior!

Considering this is supposed to be the collections issue, I’m curious.

I wonder who will be on the September Issue: Salma Hayek in YSL? Inès De La Fressange in Chanel?

The cover image makes me uncomfortable with the tension on Natalia's neck and her face angle as well, but I love how they managed to expand the word "MODE" without devouring the whole cover.

Alt wanted to let Farnetti to shine a bit. She is a nice girl. This cover is forgettable : the styling, the model, the headlines.

Not my favorite cover, but you can't go wrong with Natalia! She looks great as always and naturally, Vogue Paris is once again the winner of the month.

What's the story on this, Valentine? Will it be sold with the magazine?

I think the description said that for extra €5, you get the t-shirt. Offer is probably limited to France only, although I do wonder what the T-shirt looks like.

I'm mostly happy for Nathaniel Goldberg, hope he continues to work as much. I always thought of him as underrated.

Natalia isn’t the best when it comes to movement. She looks very stiff. The styling is also too casual for a collections issue. I’m looking forward to the editorial. Hopefully the true star of Vogue Paris will be featured. I’ll give you a hint, she’s in my icon.
