Vogue Paris May 2010 : Penélope, Naomi, Gwyneth, Meryl, Julianne & Kate by I&V

It just looks to commercial and casual for my liking. They're all in (ugly) t-shirts (I know it's for charity, but uhhh...) and it looks too much like an advertising campaign for the Gap. The contents sounds good though.

the concept of the cover is so not vogue paris, too american

It's like they spent all the energy on getting them all for the cover that when it came to actually shooting it and putting the cover together they were just like "eh, w/e let just do something".

Oh for the love of god, what IS this?

Good to see Mario back, the editorials better make up for these covers.

same here ...

and I think somebody said it was Vanity Fair-ish ....
INDEED !

Penelope with Bono seems ok ... But I wish it was Pedro Almodovar ....

I hope, too, the editorials will make it for these covers.

Vogue Paris carries on its way to a bad-cheap path ...........
Stay true to ur style DAMN GOD !

The group cover picture looks distorted! Very strange!!

I'm also not getting the love for something that is essentially a giant advert for Gap Product Red - they might as well have just used a reprint from the campaign if they were going to do this.
Me neither but seem that because of Red has huge stars in their campaigns, they also get much attention in the press. I remember to see some Scarlett Red stuff in Vogue and I guess other stars have done their interviews/photoshoots too.

Have to say that I love to see Meryl! Her and Penelope's cover is my favorite of those.

I must say that I am very surprised by this issue. It is quite a departure from what we have usually been seeing from Vogue Paris in the past year. And I applaud Carine (and Penelope) for mixing it up a bit. This is not just a cinema issue, but a movie star extravaganza. I am a but surprised, however, that Marion Cotillard isn't on the cover. After all, she is French and she did win an Oscar and she is in the fashion spotlight as the face of Dior. Out of any actress, surely she would deserve a cover of Vogue Paris by now. Maybe Carine really doesn't like her?

It's something i've also been wondering...But Marion usually graces a lot of french magazine covers with them always saying the same things:she's won an Oscar,Hollywood is on her feet, she's been working with the best bla bla bla...Maybe Carine doesn't want to be in that "trend"...

I don't like Penelope Cruz and i don't think she looks great in the VP covers which indeed look really Vanity Fair-ish...

Maybe they're realizing that Americans buy French Vogue too lol.

Vogue US putting Karlie Kloss on a T-Shirt while Vogue Paris putting Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover. Next thing you know we're living in an alternate universe where US Vogue's the cool one.

Fashionolgie used quote form Luxx's post. ^_^

Already, the covers are eliciting reactions — The Cut writes, "This is a surprising, very Hollywood direction for a magazine that loves models so much." And a commenter on The Fashion Spot notes, "[This] is essentially a giant advert for Gap Product Red — they might as well have just used a reprint from the campaign if they were going to do this. The covers look like they're from a subpar issue of Vanity Fair." When Vanity Fair partnered with (Red) for their July 2007 issue — which Bono guest-edited, however, there was no mention of (Red) on the covers — only a red background.

^ Thanks, Penélope looks beautiful but I'm not too fond of the picture as a cover... I'm hoping I'll get the group shot!

The group cover picture looks distorted! Very strange!!

That's actually quite typical of some I&V pictures, I like how they play with angles and proportions!

"Fard Fatal"
Daria Werbowy by Frederique Verley, Ph Ben Hassett
Realised by Julia Von Boehm.
Make up by Aarom de Mey.

I like the forth one, not sure about the rest. Thank you for scanning these elsaskywalker.

I hate the earings/piercings but other than that it's a gorgeous beauty ed, thanks!

wearing GAP(RED), doesn't mean you can't be fashion forward. These look wrong. And totally not for FV.

ooh and Daria look stunning as usual in her Gorgeous Beauty spread

I like the forth one, not sure about the rest. Thank you for scanning these elsaskywalker.

i second this. the forth shot is quite decent, however the second and third one are atrocious, and the other ones are just bland... thanks for scanning elsa :flower:

Great choices for the cover and good cause but very mundane cover.
I think I actually like Bono and Penelope's cover best.
Contents look pretty good and already Daria's edit. is outstanding.
Thanks elsa :flower:
