^ This edit is truly sublime. So are all of the others by Thompson, exhibiting his amazing range/versatility whilst still maintaining a sharp point of view and signature sense of mystery. Some of my favourite stories of all time.

I also miss the carefree Bruce Weber narratives with their casts of diverse characters. Fashion magazines nowadays (perhaps with the exception of super-sleek Interview and decidedly adult Porter) are so obsessed with plundering social media for two second trends in order to find an angle synonymous with what could be deemed new that the thoughtful, considered fashion story has died out. I'm so tired of seeing Kid X/Y shooting 6 pages of forgettable photographic mimicry month in month out.

I am dying for the day when elegant, expansive fashion stories like the ones we see here come back into play; with themes like surrealist takes on the season's looks in the vein of Dali, group travel stories shot in European cities or joyful picnics in the park for example. Until then I will keep coming back into this thread and going into my own archives!
