What Are Your Thoughts On Plastic Surgery?

Liposuction and nose jobs are great but the concept of any kind of implant freaks me out. Breasts, cheeks, whatever. If I knew I had chunks of silicone stuck inside of me, I have no other words for this, it would freak me out. Doesn't it feel strange?

It's a scary concept to me. You're changing a feature on your face/body you've had (most likely) since you were born, and you lived with it for decades and years. Then you have a surgery and wake up every morning to a completely different person. I'd be much weirded out by someone I know having a noticeable change. And of course, there are also the risks of the surgery being botched or complications arising.

But if other people want it and are willing to face the aftermath and accept the consequences that could happen, then they should go ahead their merry way. Whatever makes them happy. They're going to have to deal with it, not me.

totally agree, i can't believe people go into surgery electively! the standards for beauty are becoming so routinized-- give me so and so's boobs and this nose and those lips. Who is an original anymore?

^^ actually and unfortunately noone looks the same way they were born.
in my particular case my nose drastically changed during puberty and i can tell you i was very disappointed with the directionit was going into
so features do often change with age and whilst i am totally against changing your actual appearance , i am all for enhancing it if and where possible as long as it makes one happy

^^

actually not sure i mentioned this but my home country is the first for the highest number of nosejobs a year in the world. (that is Iran). Women walk around with their plasters as if its the most natural thing in the world :innocent:

I don't have anything against plastic surgery in general but some people do seem to get surgery when their problem lies somewhere else and I think that IS a great risk.

I'm all for it... I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna take out a loan for rhinoplasty along with my student loans for college. My moms all for it, and said a qoute that I think is great for surgery; "I don't think you need one, but if you'll be confident with yourself afterwards, that'll be all the results you need."

I use to think I might when I'm older if I thought I needed it, but multiple things have completely turned me off to the idea, especially seeing people turn themselves into watered down or weird versions of themselves when they looked perfectly fine the way they were. I also want to make sure I look like a real person when I'm older. Plus, I don't know if it's worth it to put myself through surgery for something that I don't really need when it can easily go wrong and when there could be complications.

I used to think I'd get it on my nose, but now I've made peace with it and accepted it. I would possibly get like, a boob lift or something when I get a little older and when gravity isn't my friend anymore, but other than that, I wouldn't do anything else.

I just scheduled a nose job and I got juvederm a few weeks ago, although I'm going back to a different doctor for more juvederm. The plastic surgeon I'm going to did my ex's nose and both of his parents and he's the chairman of plastic surgery for the hospital so I'm confident it'll turn out good. Now I just need to pass the blood work and physical and get my brother to loan me money!

I'm all for it. Reconstruction, vanity purposes, whatever. All for it. I ran into a wall when I was younger and have a slight bump on my nose. It's kind of a funny story, but left me feeling insecure - like everyone can see it. However, they do not! It's not visible but if you run your finger over the bridge it's definitely not as straight as I'd like it to be. So yeah, I'll probably get something done and wouldn't cancel out the possibility of other surgeries in the future. People get older and naturally, they want to look their youngest. I'm all for embracing wrinkles, but the aging process is terrifying and I feel like I'm one of those people that when I see my face age, I'll want to do something about it.

as long as its not overdone. i have no qualms against it....but it seems like such a slippery slope for some people it makes me afraid to do it!

i'd love to get my breasts done but not before i have a child and definitely not with the current technology....even the best doctors, you can still tell they're fake.

Definately for plastic surgery.

I really want a nose job. The only thing holding me back is that a lot of people think Asians who get nose jobs are doing it to be more "white".

I think we should be happy with the bodies we are born with but if you really think that happiness lies on altering something and not the happiness of others, then I'm for it. ^_^

I'm considering a boob job myself.

I know this is going to sound shallow but you have to be pretty naive to think inner beauty is all that matters. Look at the society we live in, honestly. Your appearance is being scrutinized everywhere you go whether it's for jobs (yes, outside of fashion, too), or to the store. A few days ago I asked the pizza guy how much a sausage slice was and he asked if it was for me or a friend. I didn't look so bad that day either if I do say so myself - so yeah. I guess looks are favoured anywhere and everywhere.

I don't think you need to go under the knife every time someone calls you fat or ugly, but if you will feel 10x happier after doing so - then go for it. I was watching youtube clips of 14-16 year olds getting breast augmentations and rhinoplasty and ... whatever it's called to get your jaw done. Oh Maury, I love you. But! I do think it was a mistake yeah, the girl who got lipo could've done push-ups for a few months and have solid abs - however when they asked her back on the show she was so happy and really glowing. She felt like waking up for a reason since people have always made fun of her, so yeah I kind of support it in that sense when you do it for yourself. Granted, she's like sixteen and growing but there is no age count for low self-esteem. I thought she could've eliminated her belly fat and what not by working out... but I would've supported it 100% if it was something like rhinoplasty.

eh, not particularly against it, but it just seems like it becomes addicting for people. It also fuels insecurities. I think things like "extreme makeover" are everything that's wrong with society, however if someone breaks their nose or has breast cancer, it's perfectly reasonable to fix things up.
