What can I wear it with? (December 2003 - March 2010)

I love those Margielas, Laika... but like you said, when paired with the dress, it would be much too nostalgic..

I would definitely go for something with a bit of an edge... while still maintaining a sense of refinement and elegance..

I like the idea of these Chloes with the dress... the shoe manages to mix very classic ideas into one cohesive design... the quilted leather makes for a nice sensory touch too..

The overall shape of these YSLs are pretty trendy, but the t-strap adds some modesty to the high-velocity aspect of the shoe, imo...

These Louboutins would be nice as well... very classic and slightly nostalgic but full of modernity too..

I love the idea of doing the dress with these. They are so incredibly sweet but dangerous at the same time... much like your beautiful dress!

Sorry for all the black, btw...

Nice dress, laika. I think it could use something with more masculine edge, actually - like a low-heeled white oxford with a long-ish toe (although that might not be formal enough for the occasion...)

^ Maybe something light and flowy for contrast? Like a cute chiffon/silk babydoll dress?

Or even a pair of cuffed, slightly baggy shorts with a flowy top and masculine outer-piece? Like a boxy, cropped jckt.

I'd just say, don't go the model, editor, paris vogue route... it's incredibly over-done.

thank you so much ladies, karma all around.

lucky, those DVN's would be very appropriate and the price is perfect, but i'm afraid I can't manage a 4.5" heel AND a slingback at the same time.
I may look for something similar though...

droogist, do you mean like a lace up oxford? I love the idea of something masculine inspired, but the occasion (and my legs :P) does demand a decent heel.

ta-ta and wiw, thank you for all the ideas and inspiration...i'm definitely leaning toward a pointy toe.

A pointy-toe would be good... very aggressive but still quiet...
Good luck, Laika! I am sure you'll look lovely!

Please, help. I bought a white T-shirt and it turned out to be oversized and tomboyish. I don't want to give it back but can't decide what I can wear it with to look stylish

Yes - this is more or less what I had in mind:

...but now that I think about it, a (sufficiently sober) high-heeled laceup oxford bootie would probably have the same effect. I'll see if I can scare up some good pictures...

(I do think you should go with a color other than black, though - somehow I just can't picture a black shoe with that dress.)

Maybe wear it with a high wasted skirt, or some skinny jeans with heels?

I personally love oversized shirts because you can wear them with a cardigan for a casual look or wear them with something tight at the bottom and make the outfit more feminine.

what is the editor look? I don't know for sure and I definitely want to avoid looking like I'm trying too hard!!

I'm in the market for a basic bag, mostly for college and also for everyday, but I can't decide what color to go for. I will most likely get something neutral, but I'm a bit stuck because I have a dark brown wool peacoat for winter, as well as a black leather jacket for fall as my main outerwear. I want to be able to wear the bag with both, so I was thinking a light brown/tan? Or what about red? Grey?

Please let me know what your thoughts are - I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

I was thinking the same.
Even if I can't find one for the wedding,
i think that will be ideal for making the dress work in less particular situations. :D

thanks all! :flower:

laika- i always like something silver with that shade of blue...

the mmm's are super gorge btw......

Plain 'ol skinny khaki pants; what to wear with it without looking like a school uniform or like i work in an office?

My mother-in-law gave me a gorgeous pair of wide leg corduroy trousers in red. The only thing I have that I can wear with it are some black tops, but then the entire outfit looks rather plain. Any ideas of what else I can pair them with? If you are able to recommend a store, please keep in mind I'm in France. UK stores are okay though because I'm travelling there a lot this year.

I bought these awhile back, but I don't know what to wear them with. Help?

What about a knit shirt with horizontal stripes, maybe navy/white? I probably would do a white T-shirt myself ... and then perhaps something interesting with the shoes.
