What can I wear it with? (December 2003 - March 2010)

you could layer it.. wear a sheer top underneath.. If you like the neo goth trend I suggest you have a look at that thread because I see it working well within that look as well :flower:

blondette..I think that would look gorgeous with a thin cream tank, skinny jeans, red round toed pumps, red lipstick, and a plum-purple leather bag!! That's a hot top! Where's it from?

This is really pretty, and has metal sequins (hard to see in photo). How would you wear it?

Blondette, someone else will need to advise as to whether hip/midriff baring is passe or not... but if it's sanctioned in some circumstances, I think what would flatter the top is a black (wool?) tank that doesn't come all the way to the hip and has a squared neckline or is basically a long tube top with spaghetti straps. Something about the cut of the piece makes me want to just see simple lines and spare understuff with it, rather than a more complicated neckline. I think it would look wonderful with black pants or jeans or a bunch of other things.

Please help. I have just bought a nice blue knit dress/tunic, but its sleeveless & V neck. I have no idea what to wear under it! i dont have anything long sleeved to go under it, but i cant wear it on its own! was going to wear it tonight...

Do you have to wear something under it? Can you top it with a jacket or sweater instead? I like the idea of a long sleeve T under it, but since you don't have one, it's a moot point. A jacket or sweater would do the trick for warmth if that's the idea. A belted sweater would also be nice over it ;)

yea i guess your right.... is it ok to wear a knit sweater on top of the knit dress? or is that too "knitty" lol? i have a royal blue cropped hoodie? god im sh*t at layering!

fashion hottie  ofcourse you can !
but it totally depends on the individual items . . .!
could be great . . could be a disaster ;)

fashionhottie, do you have a camera?....
i wish i could help you out but i find it so difficult without seeing things......i'm a very visual person.....

what color knit sweater were you think of layering it with?.....
do you have a collared shirt?....
a thin sweater w/ a high neck?.....maybe in black?....

what shoes are you wanting to wear?....
are you going to wear tights?....
this all factors in, i think.......

soft I think that people do answer, but personally when I post something to this thread I would love it if even more people replied, even if more stuff has been posted since then. I'm still happy if I get 1-2 replies though :)

OK softie :D :

Patent pump, black opaque tights. That suit looks like it means business, so you might as well go all out - no bows allowed. And the third shoe does not look very modern (imho).

1 down, 4 to go... ^_^

Some clarifications please? :D

The bow pump is black correct? Looks gray in the picture, but I remember it being black

And are there other layers with the jacket or should we be thinking devoid of that?

thanks droogist...:p
i like the reasoning...

**i sent it out more than once...hope to get more than 5 actually...
please be honest guys...
thanks!...

I think all the shoes work.
patent pump makes it more "basic"
the suede/satin bow addes a more feminin, girly dimension to it
and the lthr/patent ank strap more "fun"

I'm partial to #2 and #3 as the first pair makes it a very "office ensample" (sp?) the #2 might make it too girly for your style ? whereas the #3 option has more spice up possibilities..

the outfit could quickly end up becoming very conservative it you add plain old tights, as I suspect it the reason why you ask for suggestiosn to hoseries ?
I think adding some woven thights (I don't know what you'd call the type I posted..but that's the kind I'm thinking of) in oyster, charcoal, or maybe venture into something more bold colourwise ?

allshoes are black...
jkt will be worn closed, so no top underneath will show...

softgrey....I think the suede/satin bow shoe. I actually have a pair of patent pumps almost exactly the same as that one ....but the suit is quite simple so the bow is a cute diversion from the simpleness.....imho.

Thanks for the clarification :flower:

Well, I think all the shoes go as well. It depends on the mood you're trying to invoke.

all business tough - blk patent
all business with a lighter tone - bow pumps
more casual - peeps

I'm thinking blk opaques will be too heavy with gray unless you balance it on top with something black. A necklace, brooch or black flower :woot: In fact, balancing with black on top might not be a bad idea regardless of hosiery since you're doing a black shoe.

I like the idea of a textured tight too. I know you have some textured gray tights. Would those work here or too matchy matchy?

I think the bow pump because it compliments the suit more than the others.

further clarification...
the jkt and skt are reallly a dusty blue curious...
the jkt is almost 'sharkskin'-has a sheen adn the skt is cashmere felt...
there's a hint of grey...but it is seriously blue here...

helena-you didn't mention hosiery?...
thoughts?...

I would suggest the suede bow pumps, and charcoal/grey textured tights^_^ .It is still business-like,but it adds a bit of quirk...some of your own "voice".And it could really be as smart or as dressed down as you'd want to make it.
