What can I wear it with? (December 2003 - March 2010)

Quirk - Hilarious!! Everything sounds more appealing when described as food :p

Soft - that must've been fun :woot: My synopsis:

- Love everything in post 1. The only change I might make is a slimmer boot. The tops and the jewelry in these photos do a good job of balancing the bottom. I just don't like to be dark on the bottom and nowhere else.

- Thanks for the photo in post 2 ;) Looks nice... I might wear the brooch on the lapel instead.

- My favorite of post 3 is the second picture. Does a nice job of relaxing the suit for a more casual affair. Also like the first photo, but something about the shoes is weird here. Love, love, love the necklace in this one!! The 3rd photo doesn't work for me. The shirt underneath doesn't display so well...

okay....
i'm going to jump in....
hopefully with something helpful to contribute....
:innocent:...

a few pts...

i much prefer the jacket open, firstly.....
the stockings are too thick......do you have anything a little more sheer...??.... they're very solid.....something looks too chunky here imo....

the very first picture is probably my favorite.....with that white/cream beaded necklace (cant tell what color it is) and the layer under the printed blouse.....the boots are great....they're different, but i like them.....this could also work w/ a pump though.....and something more sheer on the leg....

i love the printed blouse of the second pic.....but something is missing here...

the first picture of the next post with the printed blouse and the multistranded necklace is lovely.....though i would change the stockings....and perhaps even try it w/ the shoe with the bow....

i dont know how i feel about the next two, mostly because of the long sleeved shirts under the jacket with the cropped sleeve.....it ruins the shape, for me.....because the jacket is so tailored and these shirts almost create a flaired effect which messes it all up a bit, imo.....

but all the jewelry is beautiful.....
i would stick with something with length.....
it elongates the whole outfit.....
anything with the big beads, baubles.....lovely....

and i would go with a printed blouse...
not the plain.....

but what else do you have in the way of tights...??....
if you wear the boots, i suppose you dont have to worry....
the boots are great....strong.....and it gives the whole outfit a tougher feel....

the pumps are more delicate....
depends what you're going for.....

wasn't any fun at all...
i hate it...
i am used to having a model and just saying ...
'here, try this on'...
would you mind trying the other shoe?...
how about this top instead...?
etc....

...

thanks for all the feedback guys...
i have my own opinions...but i'll wait until i have some more feedback...

;)

To go against the grain.... I don't think the pin works and I like the suit buttoned. :flower:

Soft - you usually have a model to help you put together outfits? What job is it that you have that offers this benefit? :D cool!

I agree about the printed blouse and jewlerry being pluses and I would probably wear it that way, especially if the occasion was a little casual.
I think the suit also looks great buttoned. Great if the situation is rather formal, you'll still look great, just a little more prim.
I don't like the black pin on this suit.
I personally feel like none of the shoes look great with it though. :( I thought I would like the black patents but they seem too glossy in the pic. I would look for a rather quiet shoe or boot, that fits well to your foot and doesn't shine or have bows. I think the attention is best drawn higher up, where the suit's flattering cut (and possibly the cool shirt and jewlerry) can be the focus.

Edit...of course every time I hear myself thinking/saying that something should be more muted or conservative I am reminded that I think I am an overly safe/muted dresser, and so I would always take that into consideration... However if I like something more extraverted, I'm pretty confident that it's great, because otherwise it would horrify me. So I feel like that means your necklaces and printed shirts must really be very pretty and go well :)

Soft, love the suit ^_^ I feel like the black patent are too conservative. In the second pic, the grey shoes appear to be a different tone, but if they blend well in person, I'd go with those. The sandals, second choice; patent, third. I want more choices though ;) As for hose ... hmm ... the suit has a bit of a 40s feel to it, it seems like ... what about seamed hose? :p I think there are more pix though ... let me go look at them ...

OK, I'm much clearer now that I've read everything ... ;)

Don't care for the boots ... like the black brooch ... agree that sheer hose are your best option ... like the black bow pumps still ... still think seamed hose might be good.

Jacket closed is best, also like open with top underneath of approx same length as jacket.

Agree that you could do brown with this ... I have brown galore in my wardrobe, brown round-toe pumps, etc., but that's not helping you :p Given your wardrobe perhaps best to stick with the black scheme for now.

I think this suit has a really wonderful retro elegant thing going on, best to play off that ...

Hey Softie... depending on what you're going for... I like the first and 6th outfit for funky... and for classy and polished the third look is lovely.

Softie...I'm sure you've dressed by now...but I love all the clothes in pic no 1,though i wouldn't wear it with those boots.

For a polished and a very business-like look,no 3.

2 and 6 are a good marriage of chic with a slightly relaxed touch.

:flower:

this is my fave(but with the cream coloured beads - which are great)...followed by this

yeah...well...
i pretty much knew from the start that i would have to wear the jkt closed...
...
it just looks way better because it is sooo very tailored...
and it does have a bit of a retro thing which makes it feel a little stiff...
*so the suede and the bow soften it just enough...imo

-i think the pin works, but i don't think i need it...
-i agree that the boots are not narrow enough...though the colour is good

*i think that the rest are just trying too hard to make it into something it's not...and don't really work as well as i'd like...

**the best thing is that i think the grey tights work pretty well...
which surprised me, and i will probably do that!...

thanks ladies and gents!!......

okay.....I'm late, but I agree with Helena's fav's........I really like the Topshop(?) top with it......Having seen it in person, I think grey (slightly textured) or sheer black with a seam........

Love the idea of wearing it with brown though........and because I'm crazy I think the Sitbon boots would be really great with grey tights............

..........but then again I said purple tights with the red Westwood skrt;)

thx chris...
i've been eyeballing the sitbon boots...:shifty:
btw-the grey top is reiss...;)

as much as i like the outfit..
it is generally too uptight and buttoned up for my lifestyle...:ermm:...
maybe i need to find something else to wear the jkt with...

**it's not a suit...
it just happens to match perfectly so i put it together...
but it's just a little TOO 'matchy' for me...
seeing it all like this has pretty much convinced me that i will never wear it as a suit...

unless i suddenly get a new life......

Softie how about accessorising the outfit with a wide YSL'ish lacquer belt ?

puffball skirt???

I don't think my legs are thin enough to rock this, but its H&M, thus cheap, and so tantalizing.

I tried it with opaque black tights knee high suede boots, puffsleeve shirt:

I'm thinking...lose the boots, go for flats...but I'm worried b/c I always think I have ginormous calves.

Ideas???

i think you should wear it with a different top and no opaque black i think wearing boots seems enough
