I think the skirt looks better. Without it you look like you have no hips. and not in a good way

is it possible to not have hips in a good way?

^ If you are especially hippy, you'd welcome that look, because it would make you look thinner than you would otherwise.

Because you're not especially hippy to begin with, you can draw attention to your hips and not look at all overweight... it is actually a benefit, making your look more curvy and feminine :)

Style this, Please help!

Am forced to wear this bridesmaid dress in a wedding next month:doh: . Don't like much about the dress and want to look more like an individual than the other 5 girls in the bridal party. Bride gave us carte blanche on accessories, shoes, wrap. I can't get past the look/ style of the picture but want to know if Carrie SATC had to wear this how would she "work it". Help please....

I find this dress beautiful and stunning, even better or best if you have blue eyes and blonde hair. Maybe wear a FAUX fur shrug over it, or large scarf? Wear pointy toe shoes instead of strapy sandles, plus two or three bangles. A large-ish(35CM x 15CM) patent leather rectangular clutch. Go metalic-ful for makeup. You can breakup my suggestions.
Hope that was helpful?

And this supposed to be merge into the existing thread......

The important thing in dressing is shape, how does this look an you. I would accentuate the cleavage to much. You could wear the tie-belt in the back (maybe in a bow, or just tied)
The other thing is structure and colour, if you choose shoes (or bag) in the same colour, I would go for something in a different fabric (or leather)
Cream colourd satin sandals/mules would look great with this. i would go for not to much jewelry, but gold does look good with this colour.

These would look fab with the dress: (ór something similar)

This colour is great with the orange of the dress:

Maybe 'Carrie' (i.e. an 'individual') might wear one of those gold/silver upper arm band things. Sorry, i don't know what they're called but sometimes they're shaped like a snake or something.

Hair up, like a big boof/poof on the top of your head (maybe curls) and a big metallic blue/silver flower in your hair on one side, just underneath the boof/poof.

Thin strappy heels. where there are one/two straight lines over the front part of the foot and then a thin strap loopin around your ankle and perhaps going up a bit.

a mini fur bolero-type thing. a very short fur bolero (stopping in the middle of your boobs-type length) and no sleeves or just a little cap-length/like 'sleeve.'

a fabulous ostentatious ring. a simple short chain with a very small silver/clear piece.

SJP's glowing skin and sparkling eyes :P

haha - that was fun.

remember, you don't want to overshadow the bride.

beacuse without hips, a girl looks like she has no waist and broad shoulders- and looks like a man, not a girl:ninja:

I really like that dress!!
I would team it with golden accessories with purple/emerald green detailing (for example bejewelled golden clutch/sandals, purple or green eye makeup)
how about hair in a puffy updo like scarlett in black dahlia?
also like the sound of golden and black accessories..

I'd cut it shorter to the knees and make the hem normal. Then I would wear it with some beige/brown fur ans some platforms with high heels- like these but in beige shoes and fur NM.com; clutch from net a porter com

and that dress belt should be worn more at the natural weist level.

I have a Max Mara Black velvet tuxedo jacket with satin lapel very similar to this one form net a porter. I 'd like to wear it at work and make it look less formal. I wore it with this DVF skirt, /wihich is from Black wool jersey High waisted, a large bow sits on the waistline. A single wide pleat runs down the centre of the skirt. Two flap pockets sit on either side under the waistband. A small slit runs up the front of the skirt from the hemline/ and a simple white shirt and it looked still too formal. How can I make it less formal, and still conservative for work?

grey tweed trousers instead of a skirt, or if your office would allow, it'd be great with jeans

Thank You Stiletto. Yes !grey tweed trousers would look very well! Unfortunately I can't wear jeans at work.

Whirlygirl- i think the dress is pretty and think gold metallic shoes would look great with it like these.

Aris- you can wear a black cashmere cami like this Michael Kors one or something like this Dior beaded top wouldnt make so formal.
