What do you do with your fashion mags?

^^ I'm not sure, I'd have to check....But it annoys me when they put "Charlie's Hot Dogs To Go" provided the food and Ramone's friend Raoul provided the light blub that burned out, and George from the shipping department drove the van - but they can't put the damned models names anywhere!!!!

The only models I've ever seen ID'd in Vogues are Lily Donaldson, Gemma Ward, Kate Moss, and Elise Crombez has been in British Vogue.



I usually always tear up my magazines (except for 2006 Ws and 5 or 6 others so far) at the binding to get what I want and toss the rest. I'm definitely adopting the binders/sheet protectors method. I've got the editorials out too, but I print out a sheet of paper with the magazine/month/photographer/model right before the editorial starts in my binder. That way I still have the editorials I want. I just haven't decided if I should organize them by magazine or photographer.

I used to save them (i guess I got the habit from my mother who had magazines from the 70s when I was growing up...and my dad hated it too)...but now, I just recycle them...I cut out what I want to keep and recycle the rest of the mag.

Wow! Those are a lot of binders! How do you manage to cut the pages out so nicely? I can't bear to cut up my magazines now so I post a post it note on the article/ed I want to look back on.

After a magazine is a few months old, I go through it and pick out several of the most personally inspiring articles, ads, editorials etc. Then I rip them out and put in plastic paper protectors and put them all in a binder (the cover and back are made of 2 of my absolute favorite editorials.) The result is an array of pages that I frequently refer to, when looking for inspiration.

not only can i not detach myself from magazines, i cant seem to throw away shopping bags either, so i have a closet of shopping bags filled with magazines, and usually different stores for different magazines. mainly, i use my prada shopping bags for vogue and my bloomingdales bags for vanity fair.

I collect ads, so I slice those out when I can bear to lose the page behind it, but I dont usually toss the whole mag unless its absolutely shredded, because looking back on it is so nice I very frequently can throw away my Vogues though, just because im not super attched--my foreign magazines that are +$10 i just have to keep. Its kind of pick and choosy!
The final product is a heap of wonderful magazines though, so thats just phenomenal!

I only just started to cut out the pages I like and putting them in clear plastic binder sheets and tossing the rest.. I keep the foreign ones...just because they they are SO expensive. I convince myself it's like buying a book and you're not supposed to throw books away

Though several magazines like W and V are oversize. Larger than the standard 8" x 11." They don't fit into the plastic sheets? How would I go about saving pages from them? Buy a larger binder and sheets? LOL =)

Yeah, In Style is also a problem...There are of course regular 12x12" scrapbooks which would be OK I guess (but not cheap if you do a lot of them..) I use a carboard template from a page protector package to trace the best part of the ad or page and trim it...usually works pretty good but... (here's the tough part) if it's a great piece you can't imagine cutting up, you can take it to a print shop (Kinkos, Sir Speedy, whatever) and for a couple of bucks they will dry mount it on foam core board and it will look very professional for very little money! I had a big shelf with these all standing up on it, even smwll picts from books and all- kind of a constantly changing art exhibit of favorites... Some of these editorials and ads are works of art...!

I only save imported magazines. I used to save Vogue but figure that it's readily available should I ever need a back issue.

I go through the magazines and clip out anything I want to save and file it in a notebook. I then take them to the library where they have a free magazine bin.

Here's the weird part: I try to leave them at library branches where the population is less affluent. I secretly pretend that my fashion magazines might inspire some kid who might normally never get his/her hands on these magazines to become a designer.

Recently I've gone through all my magazines and dismantled them. I used to use an x-acto blade, but now I find it far more efficient to just start by pulling the cover off, then pulling the rest of the pages off too. Then you don't miss anything and they look prestine. I always put everything into page protectors and organize them in a binder.
