What Fashion "Rules" Do You Disagree With?

Well, I might get beaten and disgusted at for this, but oh well... I don't think you should be disallowed from wearing an article of clothing two days in a row or twice in a week, as long as it's washed/clean... I don't think that's wrong, especially if they're one of your basics- I'm not going to buy fifteen pairs of black camisoles if I don't need to wear all fifteen at the same time...

I agree. ;) I have a black jacket that I just love. I wash it every three days so I know there's nothing wrong with it. And plus I only wear it when I go to work.

^ha...I always use suede in summer. "Summer" vs "winter" fabrics=dumb. That stuff really isn't set in stone

Yes, I agree with whoever said nude tights. It's like this thing here, nude tights give the effect of tanned, smooth legs or something - so everybooooooooody wears them in Autumn. With jean skirts.

:ermm:

I also don't agree on having the same "style" outfit. A lot of people think it's wrong to mix tweed with punk-style jackets, etc. I like it. Eclectic is always good. :woot:

also, I hate when you buy/wear something, and someone says..OMG thats soo last year! whatever..! If i like it and it still fits.im going to wear it even if its soo passe to wear/carry it now!

A lot of things don't become passé as quickly as you'd expect (or maybe they just come back a lot faster). Like, the first year there were a lot of cargo pants, I thought they'd be completely gone by the next year but they kept reappearing. Same with Asian-influenced clothing.

I hate how colours change with the season.

I'm always going to be the kind of girl who likes LIGHT colours because my skin is golden/tan (white, pale blue, pale green, yellow, pink) so I love summer so much more.
I never like dark, earthy rich tones like red, dark brown, maroon, eggplant, orange, dark green or any of those fall colours. I don't even like wearing black.

I like light coloured casual clothes all year long!

And I hate how women are expected to wear jewellry.... nice jewellry doesn't come cheap and I think to each her own... personal choice.

multiple prints.

SHOES AND BELTS MATCHING.

SHOES AND PURSES MATCHING.

i think they should compliment one another most of the time. they don't have to match. i hate outfits directed around everything matching too well

Same with shoes and bags apparently having to match... thats just stupid!

I hate the "no black and navy" rule. :yuk: I think it can look really, really pretty if done right.

I didn't even know there was a black and brown rule. Definitely dislike that one.

i've been thinking about colors clashing....
i have a new bright blue bag, so what colors should i avoid wearing with it?

i'm guessing reds, pinks, oranges, are too much clashing... even in tiny detail quantities?

and okay colours would be blues, greens..
what about browns, and shades of blue/green that are too similar to it?

or should i stay clearly in the neutral zone with it?

opinions please! =)

Sorry I only would like to know - What does "kitten heels" mean? I havent found it in any dictionary :( Could you send a picture of it?

Thank you
it's basically a v short stiletto.. wide at the top, curving down to a stiletto point, only about an inch high in total.

^ Holly, as far as the bag, I would take it on a case by case basis ... as the tagline says, "No rules, just right" :D ^_^

I don't really know a lot of the rules of fashion but "no white after Labour Day" is the dumbest piece of crap I've ever heard.

Definitely disagree with the black and navy rule! I always wear my black puffball skirt with a navy buttondown, I like the look quite a bit. :)

I disagree with the "black is boring" rule. I'm not a goth, but I have always loved black (my favourite piece of clothing when I was tiny was a black skirt. I adored it, and wish I'd still have it) and found outfits with black colour the most interesting. Fortunately black is a trend (in good and bad) this season, so that rule won't apply right now.

no white after labor day- That's just silly!

No brown w/ navy- If it's the right shade of navy, and a really dark brown, it can look really good & rich

Stiletto sandals are only for very dressy occasions- nothing wrong with wearing stilettos to the corner store to pick up some diet coke- it's actually MORE practical, because you won't be wearing them for as long

Metallics only for evening- Why not during the day too with denim?

Tall girls should only wear flats- What?!? are you crazy?!? Flats?!?

& I never follow trends that don't flatter my body, or that i just don't like
