What Magazines Have You Bought/Received Recently?

Trying to changes things a little, I recently subscribed to UK Grazia. I've long disliked the look of the magazine, I just don't like the art direction - but that's a purely personal preference, and I thought I'd give it a go.

But three issues in, and I'm not impressed. The magazine pretends to be concerned with women's issues, but it just parrots stuff you'd read on the internet. It doesn't seem to have its own strong point of view, but because it runs short articles about current social issues, it hopes you'll interpret this as the magazine being mature and having an interest in important matters. But I'm saying all of that, when Grazia is one of those old-style weekly/fortnightly magazines that provides readers with a little bit of everything, something light to read during lunchbreak or on the train, back when we weren't on our phones all the time. It does its job.

The issue that I received this morning has Helena Christensen on the cover (and a different shot to the one seen on the newsstand edition, which can be seen in her TFS thread here. There's also a short interview with Carine Roitfeld.

But the printers hadn't cut the magazine properly, and every page was sealed together, so I had to sit there with a pair of scissors, separating each page along the top, so that I could read it.

Discovered one of my favourite Vogue Italia covers listed on eBay for under £20 (postage included).

The cover has seen better days, but I too have experienced some wear and tear since 1991.

But this will be the third time I will have owned this issue. The first copy is stored in a garage, the second is upstairs in a black magazine file, and now the third will be in the post. Why do I need three copies?

Someone take my credit card away from me, I just purchased:

Vogue Paris October 1970
Vogue Paris June/July 1971
Vogue Paris August 1971
Vogue Paris November 1971

I immediately filled my cart with like 15 issues over at CNWWN, but when they calculated my shipping I figured I'd rather invest that money into my new fascination with Lei and Per Lui...

Also thought I'd share some of my most recent purchases over the past couple of months. Mostly impulsive or Meisel related. Purchased that issue of i-D cause I felt badly about leaving the store empty handed. Was meaning to buy that gorgeous Mona cover but they only had Billie available, however it felt like a good investment considering the quality of paper and the sheer thickness and amount of content. It's a solid issue! Vogue Italia's cheap so I occasionally pick it up in passing. If only I had the knowledge to do so back in the day when the magazine was actually good... anyway, I noticed that somewhere between Maty's December cover and Vittoria's April they switched from matte to glossy cover paper. I always loved the matte covers, but the latest one looks great on glossy paper! Must also note my vast disappointment at how thin American Elle was. Very stunning cover nonetheless.
Lila will soon be added to the collection, and hopefully some more Meisel additions by the end of the year!

Oh you are a menace!! I took your post as an encouraging nudge towards placing my order - unfortunately I missed out on a very lovely cover of Vogue Portugal because I hesitated for so long. Paid shipping double the amount of my order, but oh well. We'll call it a belated birthday present from me to myself. And ignore the bank emails for the next couple of weeks :ninja:

I was eyeing the yellow March 2022 cover, it looked quite stunning in the selection with the composition and the colors and everything. Was also considering Vogue HK, but I didn't like any of the issues in the offer. Wish they had the Kate Moss covers!

I bought my first last month, the Feb issue and i was quite dissapointed honestly, not so much with the content but the design, is so awful
I hate the light font with the horrible shadow, i tought It was only in the cover but no, all titles are like this :judge:

I was interested in getting some back issues of Vogue China, until I saw they only accept paypal at the online store. Conde Nast, proud to be at the forefront of every trend... except modern payment methods.

There was genuinely nothing for me in the Condé Nast back issue sale, once I saw Kristen Stewart's Vogue Australia was out of stock! I no doubt would've added a few miscellaneous issues for the hell of it and paid the £7 delivery had VA been in stock but obviously wasn't meant to be.

Got British Vogue's May issue with Lila Moss in the mail earlier this week and still toying with the idea of whether to even bother picking up Akon Changkou's Vogue France over the weekend if I come across it. I don't admire anything about the cover or the issue but seems kinda final to just quit purchasing Vogue France all together... I'm so weak and still feel somewhat loyal to the magazine. UGH!

Okay, so I went back to eBay and bought some more vintage fashion magazines.:lol:

L'Officiel March 1971
Vogue Paris December 1970/January 1971
Elle May 5, 1969
Elle March 1, 1971
