What Magazines Have You Bought/Received Recently?

Where were you able to buy Pop magazine? I've been unable to find it available anywhere online.

magculture, they have an online store. The delivery is a bit expensive but you’ll receive your magazines in excellent conditions

DM me if you really want it @SLFC .
I can buy it for you and ship it. I know the struggle of wanting a magazine.

Oh that is very kind, thank you.

Since that last giant haul I have since bought and some have arrived from a subscription which I no longer have but one kept coming? Long story somewhere in my post history. I feel like maybe I haven't slowed down at all. TLDR; dont buy subscriptions from Conde Nast France.

Elle France August 6th, 2021
Elle Korea September 2021
Elle Japan October 2021
Harper's Bazaar UK September 2021
Vogue UK October 2021
Vogue Paris August 2021
Vogue Paris September 2021
Vogue Paris October 2021 (The one I have now came from the subscription which I had canceled and gotten refunded for which was weird. A friend generously gifted me a copy before this which should soon arrive in presumably better condition as USPS damaged this one slightly).
Vogue Brazil June 2019
Vogue Brazil August 2018 (holy crap you got no idea how long this one had eluded me and for while I had found one on a brazilian site but it was only before brazilians eventually a friend found a package forwarder and I finally freaking got it along with a few others)
Vogue Brazil May 2017
CR Fashion Book 19
High Style Fall 2021

While not a fashion magazine, it's still another part of the Conde Nast stable which is losing an editor... I received my subscription copy of World of Interiors for December 2021, and it has a 'cheerio' editor's note inside from Rupert Thomas. While the last issue produced under his editorship will be the March 2022 one, this December issue is the 40th anniversary issue of the magazine, as well as representing Rupert's 30th anniversary at WOI. The December issue is 300 pages.

"To this day, the magazine is run by a skeleton staff of 13 with everyone doing multiple jobs".

I wonder how long Hamish Bowles has been waiting to be editor of WOI, and, at this point, will it be everything he imagined?

Aside from receiving my various standard Conde Nast subscription issues of Tatler, Vogue, Vanity Fair and World of Interiors (all recently renewed for another year because they were £12 apiece), and the Vogue Italia with Lady Gaga, I went on a little vintage magazine buying binge:

US Elle - Aug 1992 - Helena Christensen - I love American Elle from the early 90s. At the time, I was lucky to find some on sale in my local store, but there were still so many great supermodel covers I missed out on, although looking through this magazine, I'd forgotten the game of 'find something in this issue of Elle that wasn't shot by Bensimon'.

French Elle - 28 December 1981 - Ornella Muti - I was always fond of Ornella and I was interested in seeing what French Elle was like at that time (it's stapled). This issue is forty years old, which makes me wonder - what's the oldest magazine I own? And do I own any that are older than I am?

German Elle - Feb 1993 - Cindy Crawford - another issue from the era of supermodel covers (and Bensimon again).

Tatler - Sep 1985 - Jerry Hall and Marie Helvin - the 'Guinnessty' cover by David Bailey.

Given that I now rarely buy new magazines either online or from the newsstand, I find that I've switched to buying books instead.

Aside from buying the obvious magazine-related ones from Amazon ('Vogue: The Covers' or 'Vanity Fair 100 Years'), I've found that the Paper Shop section in TK Maxx's online store is worth a look for those in the UK - I've recently managed to pick up 'Harper's Bazaar First in Fashion' and 'Avedon Advertising' for less than I've seen anywhere else (even Amazon), plus I've seen other jewels occasionally turn up like 'Chanel: The Karl Lagerfeld Campaigns'.

^Yes! I also spotted Avedon's advertising book at TKMaxx over the weekend and for a terrific price (was even shrink-wrapped and everything) but I need another large coffee table book like Vogues need shared content.

It's available on TK's website for anyone that's after it, btw!

Like @tigerrouge and @vogue28 I've been buying a lot of fashion books lately, mostly used ones on Amazon.

For anyone interested in 1960s/1970s fashion photography and/or Helmut Newton, I *highly* recommend finding Helmut Newton: Pages from the Glossies (1956 to 1998) . It came out in 1998. It's a collection of his work for Australian Vogue, Vogue Paris, British Vogue, US Vogue, Elle France, Harper's & Queen, etc. Some of the editorials are accompanied by pretty funny anecdotes (like getting fired from Vogue Paris after doing a story with Harper's & Queen which scooped the first look at a collection by André Courrèges from VP). Anyway, it's nice to see his early work and lots of photographs I haven't ever seen. Of course, it has his more well known work from the 1970s-1990s in it, too.

I did *flip through* the Isabelle Huppert issue of Vogue France today, before putting it back on the rack, just to make this post more relevant to the thread! I considered, maybe, purchasing a magazine.

I visited a few used book stores today and found a few gems: Fashion and Surrealism by Richard Martin (1987, Rizzoli).

While browsing another store that I wouldn't quite call vintage/antique, mostly used kitsch and found this Yves Saint Laurent paper doll book. I couldn't resist it.
