What to wear to prom or homecoming

karusiek, you looked absolutely beautiful! your dress was really fantastic.
& shuggastiletto, I know what you mean, omg. i have an irrational fear of generic prom stores, hahahah. i looked online through some prom dresses, and a majority look so typical-teenage-sl*tty, you know what i mean?! ahhhhh! :(

I want this one.

But it's sold :(

thank you guys for nice words! it was really kind of you :flower: and the dress posted by haleyanne is really pretty

haha exactly cindsaurus! I just want something classic and elegant. I'll start looking in a few weeks, I'm just not sure where to even go. David's Bridal, Thoughts and Best Wishes (prom store) etc are all so tacky and cheap looking! ooooman.

It surprised me to find this on Forever21 (actually it's by Twelve by Twelve). What are your ideas on what shoes to wear with it? (Preferably low heels ^_^.)

Lil Sister's Prom Dress

So my sister (17) has ordered her prom dress. I was wondering if you all could help with ideas for accessories, shoes and hair.
She has naturally tan skin, brown eyes and brown shoulder length hair without bangs. Any make up ideas would be nice too.

Oh, and no clue who the designer is or where it's from.

The dress:

this is my inspiration, our prom isn't exactly princess-y so i'll be more casual :)

It'll take time. I'll have to ask my sister where she got it. When I clicked on it all it said was imagashack.
That's why I said I didn't know who made it.

Give me some time. I'll send her a message. (We don't live in the same state so it may take a while. - I'll let you all know if she knows.)

Current picture credit (until my sis gets back to me): Imageshack

^ Thanks :flower:

I would probably do black evening shoes ... Is her hair long enough for a wispy little up-do? Maybe gold metallic eyeliner ...

I would also keep it very simple -the dress could look a little sl*tty if the makeup was overdone, because of the lace-up detailing, the bra top and the colour. There's also so much going on with the dress I think the accessories need to be clean. I agree with fashionista-ta -simple black evening shoes, black clutch, soft hair (either a soft updo or down and soft/wavy), simple bracelet and earrings, no necklace.

I would probably make my face up with very light makeup, black eyeliner, a touch of rosy blush and sheer lipstick. I'm also tan with brown eyes and hair and that tends to work best for me with red dresses (or, at least, did when I was 17)...

I agree about going soft on the lipstick, I was thinking the same thing ... I used to have a sparkly lipgloss in a very soft sheer red that was nice & subtle. (She could try Clinique, guaranteed subtlety there ;)) Under non-prom circumstances, I would try this with black peeptoe oxfords to tone it down, but that's a bit fashiony for high school :innocent: Maybe little gold drops for the ears ...

Just got my prom dress....Dior, violet crepe. The pictures that I am taking do it no justice, I would love to find a shot of it on the runway
