What to wear to prom or homecoming

For this year's prom, I'm going to wear this:
prodImage.ms

Bluefly.com

I just don't know what sort of makeup to do or what shoes to wear.

HELP! I was wondering if this marc dress is too casual or informal for prom?
( But the one I was thinking of buying has the colors reversed.. so the ribbon color is the main color and the main color is the ribbon color) I love the simplicity of it and I like the idea of being able to wear it again so it won't go to waste

So the question is.... appropriate for prom?

Hm...although it is made of satin, I don't think it's prom material. Not staying that you should go all out and be a Jovani clone, but maybe dress it up a little bit.

I totally think the MBMJ Kitty Dress is good for prom, though. Do you like that dress?

Silver shoes. Not tacky silver.

for makeup, light blue eyeliner and all? The winter queen look?

Hmm, that sounds like a solid idea... I especially like it to remember how pretty winter is since it will probably be 75+ degrees of muggy heat at my prom and we will all be covered in pollen

I think it is a bit informal, but I think the darker color you're considering would be better ... what if you wore it with gold heels & were just a bit different from the others?

Oh, you could also go all out with an elaborate wrist corsage ... dark roses to match the dress would be gorgeous, I think ...

NOOOO!!! I found an EXQUISITE pale peach-pink-salmon dress, very like Charlotte Casiraghi's Rose Chanel dress. Bought it. Fits perfectly, BUT THE BUST IS TOO BIG. So now I have to wear a tacky purple hoochie dress with ugly rhinestone pin. >

^ Wow, you looked amazing! Very elegant for prom.

That's what chicken cutlets and padded bras were made for!! :P

^yeah...but my mother doesn't think a $$$$$ dress should need alterations, and she's afraid the strapless pads will fall out. So I'm going in a hoochie dress. :(

My look ended up being:

gorgeous.

No more prom or homecoming for me, but for boat-dance (the only formal "dance" sponsored by my school), I'll either be wearing the infamous blue Chloe dress from spring 05 or a red cocktail dress. I managed to get my hands on the Chloe dress awhile ago, and haven't had a chance to wear it, but I feel it isn't as appropriate for the occasion as the red one is :ermm:

oh thank you, so much ^ KARMA!

My Prom is very soon! But don't want to wear a suit jacket. is that okay?
I am just planning to wear a white slim fit shirt and a black skinny square end tie, and then white black slim fit pants

^^ That sounds perfect, you will look very elegant and modern. But what do you mean about the white black pants? Surely you don't mean that they are, gulp, two-toned??

 god no! LOL
sorry, i have miss typed. They are plain black slim fit.

One must be very smart at choosing the right look for prom and selecting the obvious is such a bore. In high school, our Fashion senior class created all of their own prom dresses and left every other non-fashion gal gagging!

I made a 1950's inspired Tulle dress. I couldn't find any brave girl to wear the dress I made.

I wore this to my gymnasium galla (I'm from DK). It was my mothers wedding dress sewn by my grandmother. As far as I recall it was inspired by a Dior dress from the current time.

The picture does not do it justice, but it was all i had. Wore silver drop earrings and silver stilettos with bling. It's floor lengt in the back and has a draped effect.
