What to wear to prom or homecoming

Noone here wears the so-called typical prom dresses...but I remember when I was in South Africa everyone had these floor-length beaded pastel dresses for their matric ball. I'm not gonna lie though, I think those types of dresses are hideous 99% of the time

Gorgeous stuff! You must be rich And amen and karma to the dresses! I can barely stifle my satorial revulsion, which is bad considering that many of my friends are wearing those types of dresses!

i wanted to go for something a little bit different from the "Typical prom dress look"
mine isnt until the end of june..but this is the vera wang i plan to wear (its arriving in the mail tomorrow so ill let you all know how it looks)

Does anyone know any site where I can find a skirt for prom?
I'm having a hard time finding skirts that are a bit "over the top".
Most of them look like regular ones.

^^ Wow, amazing jakeee! How much did you pay for it? I'm totally jealous, my budget was $100 and I only ended up paying $60 including tax and delivery

^ i still paid quite a bit, but I looked at it as an investment buy. It's a classy gown, that I'll be able to keep for years and wear it to other events, not just prom, so I felt it was worth my money. Its with the mail courier right now..im so excited to get it!!!

Yes, it is a dress you can keep and cherish for a long time! Ha, I'm sure you'll look better than 99% of the girls at the prom! I don't think anyone at my school even knows who Vera Wang is

I was SUPER worried about mine until I tried it on and realized it made me look a lot skinnier and that's the most important thing

I went to prom twice, just becuase I wanted an occasion for an evening gown. The event itself was kind of blah.

I went with the same, long-time friends both times. First prom, we had fun Second prom, he was flirting WAY too much (he always has, but this was getting to be very, er, assertive, even after I insisted to hima dn several people that we were and were staying friends only.), I got sick, and ended up leaving early. How fun!?
But I have two goregeous dresses because of it. That makes it all worth it.

Well, so the actual prom was lame as hell! I mean, seriously. We got lost and ended up in the wrong club house. It was big, lovely and there were a bunch of screaming kiddies having a pool party. When we got to the real location, it was tiny, HOT (it has been over 90 degrees out lately) and yeah, the DJ aka an English/Yearbook teacher was so effing awful!

Haha, whatever, I looked good, my hair was cute and I looked much thinner than usual I dug my style and the fact that I wasn't all poofy like everyone else (my two friends and one other girl were all wearing the same dress!). But at the restaurant, our waiter spilled Diet Coke on my friend's lilac dress. Needless to say, she was upset.
