The preview of some key pieces in US Weekly actually wasn't that bad...it was better than Lauren's line, I have to say...

was that the article that compared the three lines from all the hills girls? personally, i only liked one of the pieces they showed from whitney's line; the pink dress was especially atrocious. definitely beats heidi's line, however (though that certainly isn't a difficult feat )

Audrina, who wore a black leather pencil skirt and a tiny white T-shirt for her hosting gig at The Estate, did tell us that she was getting into the fashion biz a la Lauren Conrad. But Audrina said her fashionista friend had nothing to do with her decision. Hmm.
Patridge, 22, is collaborating with 16-year-old Russian designer Kira Plastinina, who is such a big fan of “The Hills,” she sought Audrina out to help her with a new line.

“I’m actually working with her, helping her to design clothes and wear them,” she said. “It’s not my line, but I’m helping her out.”
Kira’s stores are scheduled to open in New York and L.A. this summer, Audrina said.

It probably unfair to compare the girls line because each one is going for something different. Lauren is more casual, LA chic with a beachy feel to it. She also uses very classic line and cuts in order to allow the person wearing her clothes to style the clothes as they please. Her line is quite wearable. I have now seen 7-8 pieces from Whitney's line and it seems she is going for a eccentric and fun vibe but still simple designs. I dont think it is Marc by MJ
But it is cute. I like at least two pieces from her line so far. I will buy as long it is not too expensive. I will not spend 450 on a dress from her line when I get one from Anna Sui, Marc Jacobs for that price. Her line is going to be like Lauren in terms that people will be able to buy a few pieces as long as it fit their style. I thought some pieces from Lauren fall line was pretty terrific as well as two pieces from Whitney's.

I have nothing to say about Heidiwood since I am not into being or looking like a hooker.

Isn't Heidi's available at Anchor Blue? That seems more logical to me. It's geared toward her fandom in a place where they can afford it. Lauren and Whitney have delusions that women who are really into fashion will spend their inane prices on their unoriginal and boring designs. I've no problem spending 400-900 on a sundress, but for their things? Please! Ha! Right! Heidi at least was intelligent and priced it for the people she was targeting. Lauren line is priced $50-200, which is reasonable since she is using good lasting fabrics. It is her starter line also and will continue to improve. We dont know the prices of Whitney items but the wholesale values are not promising but she has decent designs like Lauren. Heidi's are cheap, worse than Rave stuffs. I would not spend 10 bucks on her zebra top...but I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions.

based on the piece in us weekly, whitney's price range is higher than lauren's. at least one piece is at, or pushing, $400.

Well we know Lauren can actually sell her line according to The Wall Street Journal, it sells quite well. Whether that keeps up will be another story. We'll see what Whitney can do with these prices which are equally ambitious and since she has half the star power as LC, it could go either way. Heidi is probably being the most realistic with her average department store prices....but the clothes are tacky stripper wear.

As of right now none of these lines are on the level of being respected like say The Row.

I don't think Heidi's line should be mentioned in the same breath as Lauren and Whitney. Heidi was contracted by Anchorblue to do 3 seasons of their clothes which means her gig will be up after the fall/winter seasons. Heidi's line is nothing more than a celebrity collaboration with an existing retailer.

Whitney and Lauren are both going for long term brands. I don't think they should be expected to compete with bargain basement discount clothing made by companies like Anchor Blue when the are investing more in quality and concept. Both Whitney and Lauren's lines are made in the USA.

You are right but the Olsens have been in the fashion business for a long time, have great advisors and are not coming from a reality tv background. Although, both Lauren and Whitney are equally if not more experience in the fashion world as far as education and internships.

I know there are big fans of the Row at TFS but I am not that impressed but that maybe due to the fact that I have not need seen enough. I saw a few pieces being modeled by Hutton in their thread... it did not fit her well. I actually prefer the Elizabeth and James line more... that just me though.

im so annoyed of people here acting so freaking "elitist". You aren't "fashion-experts" who have a monopol on every fashion related. most of you don't even work in the fashion industry. Some of us do work in the industry, actually, and she was given her break because of her experience and exposure from the Hills. Whether you want to accept that or not is your perogative, but I know quite a few people who are more talented and have degrees from FIT and other accredited universities that are doing everything possible to land competitive internships. And the only reason Whitney is even on The Hills is because she happened to actually be interning at Teen Vogue before Lauren came on.

Whitney went to 'fashion school'? What? Did she do a fashion design course like Lauren? I thought that was Heidi? When did Wintour write her a letter? (if you're talking about when she fell when she was modeling the Oscar gowns or whatever, what does that have to do with her fashion line?!)

How are people acting elitist? It's just an opinion. In my opinion, all the lines from The Hills girls are utter rubbish, just because people dislike it doesnt make them elitist.

You don't have to work in the fashion industry to see that these celebrity lines are a result of them cashing in on their five minutes of fame, or to know that they're aren't that special, creative or wonderful.
